Friday Photo: A Sandbox Salute To The Carpinteria Seal Sanctuary

The picture of the sculpture above is situated on Linden Street which ends at the beach.  It commemorates Carpinteria's Seal Preserve Sanctuary.  If you walk to the left, you will run into the area known as the seal rookery.
 
The beach is closed to the public to protect the seal rookery/birthing habitat from anyone who may frighten them.  Volunteers keep a 24 hour vigil from the cliffs above and areas below. However, you can view their activity from the bluffs above the seal preserve, and watch them sunbathe, take care of their littles one and have fun.
