There's Still Time to Make this Year's First Bookapalooza!
Libraries (and the Books, Magazines, Video-media, and People therein) Change Lives! One of the great assets to any community, and certainly to Vancouver Washington and the greater Southwest Washington area is the local Library. We are fortunate to be served by the Fort Vancouver Regional Library system, which has many branch locations throughout the region.
In large part the Library is funded by tax levy, and thankfully reflects strong community support.  However, not all programs are tax funded - one is the Summer Reading Program that receives funds from the FVRL Foundation; which in turn relies on fundraisers such as the BOOKAPALOOZA!  So what is contained in that fun-sounding name?  This time around we're told there are over 20,000 surplus items in the form of Hardback Books, Paperback Books, Videos and Audio-Vinyl - but, MOSTLY BOOKS!

The first such event in 2017 runs from January 12 - 14; 9am to 6pm.  We stopped by on Thursday to "beat the rush" and scored some great books to enjoy during this wintry weather.
