Happy Mother's Day, Mom.
This is how I remember my mom, the early years: My mom did not have a washer and dryer, she "cooked" our wash in the basement with water heated from a wood stove. The clothes were dried in our back yard. My mom did not have a refrigerator until probably in the 60s. My mom did not have a bank account until my dad passed away in the late 1970s. My mom was a stay at home mom during our early years. I think they were the happiest days of her life. She was more of a friend than a mom. She was so young and inexperienced of life. Too bad my mom could not have lived in my generation of enlightenment. My mom passed away in 2003 and I think of her every day. Overall, I think she had a happy life but just missed out on all those things that I take for granted. She never learned how to drive a car. Not that she didn't try after my father passed away, but by that time she had lost her confidence in passing the test.
