FAQ: Remodeling your home, keep future buyers in mind.

Recently, I have heard so many sellers tell me of all the remodeling they have done and now are looking to get their money back out when they have to sell it. Unfortunately, the buying public doesn't look at the it same way.
Here is what a home owner should consider when remodeling their home:
1. Is there a possibility that you might need to sell the house in the near future?
2. Maybe there is a relocation in your future whether for a new job or family emergency?
3. You want to downsize or upsize?
Because if that is in your future, here are some examples of what you should ask yourself if you can get your money back when doing the following:
1. Is it a plus or minus to put in a pool? Pools are expensive to build and maintain.
2. Just because you like a huge tub, with water shortages and usage costs, is a buyer going to see it as a detriment?
3. You rebuild part of your garage into storage thereby cutting the size down to a one-car garage, will that be the best way to go? A buyer might want to 2-car garage and would rather have a separate storage shed.
