My Personal Mission Statement (And Why You Should Write One Too)

Several years ago someone with great interpersonal and business skills that I have always admired handed me a blank pad of paper and a pen and asked me to come up with my own personal mission statement. While most companies have their own mission statements, I had never thought about the importance of my own personal mission statement. As I scratched out a few words, and then sentences; the entire concept started becoming much more relevant and important in my own mind.
When I was finally finished putting all of my thoughts and ideas together, I was left with a feeling of immense satisfaction and renewed purpose. After I transferred my handwritten piece to a more legible and printed form, it was then framed for the office wall. My personal mission statement is still hanging on that wall as a daily focal reminder of everything and everyone that is important to me. 
As time goes on, I'm certain that my personal mission statement will continue to evolve and will subsequently be updated to reflect those changes ... more
