Hello Darkness My Old Friend - How to Lighten Up in the Pacific NW
Time To Lighten Up! No winter lasts forever, no spring skips its turn -Hal Borland When November rolls around in the Pacific Northwest, the days get noticeably shorter, especially with our recent time change. Last night, around the table at our multi-generational home, my parents both remarked that it's now dark at dinnertime. When it's raining, things can quickly start to feel gloomy. In order to lighten things up in our homes, literally, many of us get creative with lights and keep candles and our fireplaces and wood stoves glowing. The cozy ambiance helps make up for the loss of bright and cheery sunlight. We're fans of Thanksgiving and want to fully honor the day before bringing out the Christmas decorations. Therefore, it's important to make sure the lighted decor still reflects the right season, or holiday. Using leaves, pine cones, and autumn colors really helps ensure the right mood.
