Ventura County Fire, Steckel Park-Thomas Aquinas College-Update

Thousands of residents have been asked to leave their homes as a fast-moving fire whips through canyons and hillsides near Santa Paula and Ventura Monday night. The fire had burned 45,000 acres and destroyed 150 structures by 8 a.m. Tuesday.
Here are the latest updates:
Tuesday 8:25 a.m. Ventura College will be closed Tuesday, said David El Fattal, vice chancellor of business and administrative services at the Ventura County Community College District. Oxnard College and Moorpark College are open and Oxnard College is offering Red Cross assistance, he said. Emergency teams are operating on all campuses and Moorpark College is monitoring the situation due to its geographic location.
Tuesday 8:05 a.m. A second fire broke out Monday night in Ojai and grew to 200-300 acres before it combined with the Thomas Fire, according to Rich Macklin, a spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department.
Tuesday 8 a.m.: Nancy Jenkins from the Red Cross said about 500-600 people who were forced to evacuate their homes were in shelters at the Ventura County Fairgrounds and at Nordhoff High School in Ojai. She said they weren't expecting that many people. Jenkins, who lives in Ventura, learned after she arrived at the fairgrounds that her own home was under an evacuation order.
