I believe we are responsible for our choices and the direction we travel.
I am a firm believer that I define and create my own destiny. For many years, I was a counselor. During those days, I remember so many clients who came into my office with problems that were taken right from their lineage.
When I asked why they were following their family norms, they would say, "That's all I know." And, I would insert "That's why you're here" " I would also always ask, "Why don't you define your own destiny?" If the family norms were good and healthy, there was no reason to break away, but most people didn't end up in my office because they came from healthy families. They ended up in my office because they came from damaged families.
Destiny is within your grasp. I come from a family of men who die young with heart issues. I decided in 1977 that I was going to break the mold. I am currently the oldest surviving male in my family (61). And, I plan on seeing my 3 year old granddaughter graduate college, have a family and be self-sufficient.
