How can you see extreme door inefficiency?
You can feel it.
You can understand it.
But how can you see it?
With a thermal camera, of course!
And who better but Mighty Mo?
This is a panorama of two thermal images stitched together to show an exterior door front on.
It was so poorly fitted into the framing air could be felt at the top left corner and all along the bottom.
You can see the colder air by looking at the dark blue on the left side and bottom.  In the ceiling over the door weakly-placed insulation can also be seen.
The stitching makes the door look a little bowed on the right side, but that is just how the images were put together.
Look at this!
From the side you can virtually see the temperature gradients as the blowing air makes its way into the room!
How cold is that air?  Slightly over 46F!
THAT will influence a room!
This door needs to be properly installed!  This is a new condo and the buyer has not lived here yet.  If that door is not fitted into the framing it will influence that entire room summer and winter.
My recommendation:  check out your new house before buying!  Hire a bulldog home inspector, preferably one ... more
