Reading JL Boney, III's post on his start in the business reminded me of a turning point in my own career. (Thanks, JL!) 
 
I was quite comfortable in my boutique brokerage during the recession; I had sales, was cautiously optimistic on the inside and fully optimistic on the outside! Anyone I ran into got my normal, "We're making the turn!" during the recession when asked, "How's the market?" Inside, I was a bit stressed because my two boys were in college and I was 'learning' a new part of the business - short sales. However, no one ever saw or heard that concern - positive people attract positivity and I'm a firm believer in that so, I stayed the course!
 
I had been working in an office on the 'hall side' of the brokerage and the office behind me came open - it was THE coveted office in the brokerage and I asked if my sales would qualify me to move offices and take that fabulous one - I SO wanted a window office! My broker-in-charge said, "Absolutely! It's yours!"
