A Horse Drawn Carriage in St Augustine
My mother came down last week from Minneapolis so that I could meet her newly minted fiance, Gary, and we took a short overnight trip up to St Augustine, which is the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement within the borders of the continental United States dating back on 1565. Several people recommended that we take an evening horse drawn carriage ride around the old part of the city to take in the sights. It was the best suggestion that we got!
We met Jason with the C. B. Hinson, Inc. Southern Carriages & Distribution Company. His trusty Percheron was named Connor and honestly we couldn't have had a better time! In order not to cramp my mother and Gary's style, the two of them sat in back in the carriage wrapped in a blanket and I sat up front with our driver and tour guide Jason.
Jason and Connor were the best! Jason shared incredible stories about St Augustine's past and the people that lived in days gone by.
