International Haiku Day...My Personal Challenge

Let me set the record straight...I have not lost my mind. Up until several years ago, I had only heard of the word haiku in articles I’d read or when watching a movie or television show.

We learned about poetry in school and sometimes had to write our own poem.
I loved reading Shakespeare...his plays and his sonnets.
However, I had no real idea what a haiku was until I read that there was a day celebrating it.

From what I’ve read, there are different styles of haiku but I thought I’d try my hand at the 5-7-5 version...17 syllables in all, 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third.

So, as a personal challenge, I thought I’d give it a try and exercise the old dendrites.
 


Give it a try. It was a fun workout for my brain.
