Second Pleasanton Hillside Initiative
On Tuesday (7/15) a divided Pleasanton City Council approved language for a second hillside protection initiative to be placed on the November ballot.  Pleasanton voters will now have two hillside ordinances to consider. The first was written by a group of Pleasanton residents including former City Council member Kay Ayala.
The new initiative, proposed by three members of the City Council, will reaffirm existing city policy to create an ordinance that controls hillside development.  It also contains a "poison pill" provision that if both initiatives pass, but the "council" initiative receives more votes the other initiative will not go into effect.
REALTOR® Impact:  Both initiatives could impact private property rights and the value of vacant parcels near ridgelines and on steep slopes that are zoned for residential uses.
