Children's Hospital and Medical Center Sends Help Overseas
Practicing medicine in Tegucigalpa, Honduras for two weeks is a rewarding experience for 12 Omaha doctors, nurses, and specialists from Children's Hospital and Medical Center. These professionals are volunteering their time at an International Children's Heart Foundation. They are providing medical care to children with serious heart conditions and who might easily die without the care of these concerned medical specialists. The work is hard, the days are long, and the conditions under which they operate are often primitive but no one complains. 
In addition to caring for the children, the medical team is sharing their medical knowledge and techniques with the pediatric heart doctors and specialized nurses in Tegucigalpa as part of a five-year program.  This will allow the local doctors and nurses to better care for their patients.
