This weekend, June 1, 2, 3 and 4, the University of Arizona will be hosting a regional NCAA Baseball tournament! We're really excited about having this opportunity. I'm even more excited because my New Mexico State Aggies are coming to town!! Along with the University of Arizona (1) and NMSU (2), we'll also have Louisville (3) and Missouri (4).

Here's the Schedule:

Session 1 - Friday, June 1, 4:00pm, New Mexico State vs. Louisville
Session 2 - Friday, June 1, 8:00pm, Arizona vs. Missouri
Session 3 - Saturday, June 2, 4:00pm, Loser Game 1 vs. Loser Game 2
Session 4 - Saturday, June 2, 8:00pm, Winner Game 1 vs. Winner Game 2
Session 5 - Sunday, June 3, 4:00pm, Winner Game 3 vs. Loser Game 4
Session 6 - Sunday, June 3, 8:00pm, Winner Game 4 vs. Winner Game 5
Session 7 - Monday, June 4, 8:00pm, Repeat Game 6 (if necessary)

First off, the tournament will be held at Hi Corbett field - where the U of A Wildcats have played this season. It's a great park that's easy to get to no matter where you might be staying in Tucson. Tucson may look like a huge city but getting around won't take you much time at all.

If you're looking for a hotel, look for locations on Broadway.

The Double Tree (right across the street to the east of Hi Corbett Field/Reid Park) still has some rooms available but can be on the pricier side.

Tucson Marriott University is right next to the U of A Campus, on the west side. It's a really nice hotel and it's easy to get to the park from there.

La Quinta Inn Tucson East might be your best value. It is further from the park but it's a straight shot (west) down Broadway.

There are plenty of options available. If you search for midtown hotels in Tucson, you'll find quite a selection of chain hotels to local BnBs and lodges.

Restaurants are plentiful around the park, too. Broadway is a main drag so whether you turn left (west) or right (east), you're going to find some good eats.

When you find yourself with some time off from the games, you'll be right in the middle of a great area - Reid Park. That's where the Tucson Zoo is.  If you want to, bring your golf clubs and check out the courses there as well.  El Con Mall is right across the street on Broadway for your shopping needs.  If you hop on 22nd (south of the park) and head east, you'll find yourself in our vibrant Downtown with great restaurants and shops. BE WARNED: Construction is underway for the streetcar. Check for the latest on the Streetcar website for how to get around and where to park

You can also visit the University of Arizona campus, down Broadway to Campbell, right on Campbell to 6th Street.

If you're interested in seeing the historic neighborhoods, visit Sam Hughes (across Campbell to the east of the U of A Campus.)

Now...about the weather. If you're used to it being hot in the desert, then you shouldn't have much problem this weekend. Temperatures will be reaching around 100, maybe a couple degrees more. The games slated at 4pm will be starting in the hottest part of the day. At the park, you'll be sitting with your back facing either north or east...that means the afternoon sun will be right in front of you. Seating is uncovered so make sure you bring a hat with you as well as sunscreen and cash for water. You need to stay hydrated when it gets hot.

I hope you have a fantastic time while you're here!! Welcome to Tucson! I hope you enjoy your time in the Old Pueblo!!
