I did my first shift yesterday (actually a double shift of 11 - 1 and then 3 - 5) yesterday for The Salvation Army kettle drive here in Gananoque.
I feel guilty each time I have a shift because my spot is inside at our Provincially-run Liquor Store!  They have a nice spot for me, with a chair, right behind the checkout and before the exit.
Others who volunteer their time have to stand outside in the cold, at the Grocery Store !!!

It is just a given that there will be the traditional Mashed Potatoes on the Thanksgiving table but if you've got the time, try to include these Perfect Roast Potatoes and I promise, they'll quickly become a family tradition!

They should be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside!
Where I live they do not sell goose or duck fat so I usually precook a goose just for the drippings.  Not many in my family like goose meat but I do so Happy Thanksgiving to Susan!

This little guy is sitting in a tree outside my brother's office window.  It is all I can do to not 'rescue' him.  We haven't seen his Mother anywhere and don't know if he is abandoned and alone or if he was just placed there for safe keeping by his Mother.  He is too tiny to be on his own so we're keeping an eye on him and will call the Town to come and rescue him if he is there for very much longer.   Do they make Raccoon Chow?
