Authentic Victorian Tea Set for Oct. 9th - 09/17/10 10:49 AM
As a member of The Daughters of the British Empire, I wanted to invite our ActiveRain community to attend our 22nd Annual Victorian Tea on October 9th in Denver. Here is more information and phtos from last year's event.
For over twenty years, the Daughters of the British Empire in the state of Colorado have been hosting a Victorian Tea in October as a fundraiser to support the British Home in CA., their primary charity.  The group also donates a portion of the funds raised to local charities including Denver Hospice, The Gathering Place, Good Samaritan and Kempe Foundation.

Belmar's Festival Italiano brings Italy to Lakewood, Colorado - 09/13/10 05:40 PM
Thousands of people joined in the celebration of Italian culture as Belmar hosted the 7th Annual Festival Italiano this past weekend in Lakewood. The event offered an exotic flavor of Italy with its wide variety of music, food, art and entertainment.

Highlights of the festival included the GLI SBANDIETORI - flag throwers from Florence who delighted the crowd with their expertise and the ever popular Children's Grape Stomp sponsored by local winery Balistreri Vineyards. With several stages throughout the event, there was ongoing music and entertainment for all ages.

Lavender Jelly - from garden to dinner table - 09/01/10 07:36 PM
Making lavender jelly from flowers harvested from my garden and serving it at my dinner table was a delightful experience.  Three years ago, my husband and I gutted the backyard of our 1960's home, whose yard had been neglected for 15 years or more. So in rebuilding our yard, I planted numerous flowering bushes and shrubs that would attract birds, bees and butterflies.
I planted 4 Lavender bushes because the smell of blooming lavender flowers is heavenly.
