On Saturday, my husband and decided to take a hike with our dog, Jake, to one of the trails recommended in the book, "Best Hikes with Dogs Colorado" by A. Savage. From Denver, we traveled Highway 70 west to Georgetown, then proceed up Guanella Pass to the trail leading to Silver Dollar Lake. I am glad we went early because we got the last space in the parking lot at the trailhead. Visiting fox caught us by surprise! - 07/08/11 08:37 PM
This evening, a visiting fox caught us by surprise!  My mother and I were doing a skype call to my soon-to-be 3 year old grandson when out of the corner of my vision, I saw a red streak across the backyard. On second look, I focused in on a very small and thin brownish red fox as he climbed up the stairs to my mother's back patio.
For over 15 minutes he rested, scratched and groomed himself. I grabbed my camera, a Nikon 3000, and shot a few photographs through the back door. Shortly thereafter, he scampered to the neighbor's yard.  … (9 comments)

The Greeley Stampede still reigns supreme as the largest 4th of July rodeo in the country. Having been raised in a city  on the east coast, I had never experienced a real rodeo until after graduating from college. In 1976 I moved to Greeley, Colorado which was home of  one of the largest feedlots in the world, Monfort of Colorado and appropriately the largest 4th of July rodeo known as the Greeley Stampede.
