relocation: Earthquake Myth #2 "...The Earth Opened....there was a ten inch wide gap..." - 12/27/09 12:10 PM
Earthquake Myth #2 "...The Earth Opened....there was a ten inch wide gap..."
As I promised earlier, I will try to debunk some of the earthquake myths. So without further delay let us address Myth #2....the earth opened up..."
When you read a fiction book describing an earthquake or watch a movie simulating an earthquake and they show a fault opening and the earth swallows up cities, towns, and bad people. That is pure fiction.
Faults like that only exist in novels and the movies. If the earth could open, there would be not Friction and without Friction, there would be no … (3 comments)

As an East Coast transplant, I have to share with you some misconceptions which concern some people who have never lived in Southern California. Local Angelinos do not understand, nor can they relate to the fears of people, who have never lived here before.
I will write a series of posts to dispel myths and give a dose of  reality to people considering Relocating to Southern California.(we have lived here now for over 14+years and will plan on living here for many more) What they … (6 comments)

relocation: Marina Del Rey had a surprise visitor: a Gray Whale - 06/10/09 10:09 AM
Since Real Estate has picked up, I have been so busy that I did not have time to take a stroll by the beach. Yesterday I decided to take a walk. I was amazed at the number of people by the Channel, did not think much of it and I continued on my stroll. Then I saw two News Media vehicles, now my curiosity was peaked. What is going on?
Had a watched the news for the past few days, I would have discovered that since last Friday we had a 20-foot-long California gray whale in our channel. Evidently the whale … (8 comments)

Here we are the month of May just flown by for me. Even though there were thirty one days in the month I could have used a few extra. The activity has picked up not just for other Realtors, but for me as well. I have been fielding calls, showing properties, and writing offers and found my self in multiple offer situations more then five times this month. I am confident, based on my activities that the numbers will be better compared to the previous month.
Now let us look at the actual Condominium Activities for the month of May in … (3 comments)

relocation: What qualities do you look for in a Real Estate Agent? - 10/26/08 12:33 PM
If I was in the Market to a buy Real Estate Today, I would look for the following:
•1.      How responsive is this agent in the initial Contact?
•2.      How quick is the  response via e-mail or telephone
•3.      How is the agent's Geographic knowledge of the area?
•4.      Does he/she have the Market knowledge, i.e.: number of listings on the market, number of homes pending, number of homes sold in the past three months.
•5.      Does he/she seem comfortable, relaxed, and confident and has a pleasant demeanor?
•6.      What is the real estate agent's philosophy toward the market conditions?
•7.      … (12 comments)

relocation: Do you have any advice to a Newer Agent? What is your in input? - 10/17/08 11:10 AM
I am on many websites venues  and a relatively new agent wrote to me and  wanted some advise about relocating and the Real Estate Business. My response  to him made me think  I should share this with the community.
I think it is important to let you know my background. I started out in Boston, MA and then relocated to Los Angeles, with that came a learning curve. LA is vast geographically compared to Boston. As a Realtor you need to know the local communities, better then your clients, hence a challenge to embrace. Then there is the License issue, California had no … (13 comments)

relocation: Market Snapshot of the Single Family Homes in Marina Del Rey,CA - 10/06/08 06:02 PM
As I was researching my last post and looking at land size vs. living square feet in the Marina Del Rey Peninsula and the Silver Strand it occurred to me.  Just as I was interested to see, what the Market Snapshot was for Single Family Residences the community would be equally interested to see, what the numbers are in this turbulent real estate market?
Presently there are twenty three Single Family Residences on the Market for Sale.
Two homes are in Escrow and ten sold year to date.
The least expensive home on the Market is listed for $1,950,000.00 and the … (0 comments)

relocation: Are you relocating to California(Foreign or Domestic)? Need to Know This. - 10/05/08 06:53 PM
I have been contemplating writing this post for some time now.  Recently I had three different clients, who were considering relocating to the greater Los Angeles area from three different parts of the world and the concerns and questions were similar, hence this post.
Some of the questions seem basic to us, but not to someone who is not accustomed to buying Real Estate in California.
Who pays the commission? Is it the buyer or the seller? In California, customarily the Seller pays. It is negotiated by the Seller and the Seller's Brokerage. This is shared by the Buyer's Brokerage generally evenly. … (3 comments)

relocation: For a Smooth Relocation, Plan, Organize and Anticipate! - 09/19/08 12:07 PM
For someone who has moved around the world between Europe and within the continental US more then twenty times, I can safely say I am an expert at Relocating. My last move was a short distance from Century City, (Los Angeles) CA to Marina Del Rey, CA. Nevertheless I swore I will only move one possibly twice more in my life.

Needless to say I understand what it means to make drastic changes, to leave your family and friends and neighbors are sometimes emotionally painful. Then with that comes the anxiety to pack, what to get rid of and what to keep. … (11 comments)
