Staying Motivated!
Do you find it difficult to stay motivated this time of year? I know I do!
With it getting dark much earlier these days, and the cold winter weather, I am often tempted to work less, follow up with fewer leads, and just take it easy!
However, the bills don't stop in these dreary months, so I must press on! Some things that help keep me going this time of year are:
1. Exercising regularly- I find that on the days I go to the gym and exercise, I am much more productive!
2. Have written plans- when I write down the things I must accomplish, I am more apt to get them done!
3. I remember that "activity breeds activity"- I have found this to be so true in my career so far; whenever I am working hard, other business comes my way; when I am not working, it doesn't.
4. Plan a day off- this helps to increase productivity while having something fun to look forward to!
5. Eat right, and get plenty of sleep! This sounds trite, but is oh, so true! Diet and sleep really do affect the way we perform!
6. I have learned not to beat myself up over failure, but learn from each failure. I heard somewhere that success is being able to pick yourself up again after many failures! That's encouraging!
7. Have an accountability group- mine meets once a month and is comprised of four agents from three different counties, so that we aren't in direct competition with each other. I have learned a lot from this group and it is a good place to get motivation!
8. Stay away from the negative agents in the coffee room. If you think negative, you get negative. I believe you get what you focus on, so I choose to focus on positive, good things!
9. Take free classes to re-motivate yourself; most boards of realtors offer these or participate at your board. Being around other enthusiastic agents always helps.
10. Fake it before you make it! This again, is about attitude- if you believe you are successful, motivated, then you will become that way. Works for me!!
