Will the Tax Credit Expansion Really Help Sellers - Moving Up? The Tax Credit Extension for First Time Home Buyers until April 2010 is great and will keep the momentum going for some markets. The Expansion to Homeowners who have lived in their home for the last 5 years, makes me kind of do a Hmmmm. If we really think about it, once signed in to law the most important step for sellers will be to Sell their "Existing Home"! We have one of the best and most robust markets in the country, here in Fayetteville. But, with the holiday months coming, just like most markets we see a slight downturn.
Sellers typically do not like to place their homes on the market during the Thanksgiving & Christmas holiday months. In essence, if Sellers delay we would only have a total of about 4 months to list, sell, find a home and place under contract (with a Contingency on Closing on their Existing Home).
Motivated sellers that have a sense of urgency will most likely fare well in selling their home during the Thanksgiving & Christmas holiday months. This motivation and sense of urgency will help ensure they don't miss this rare opportunity to sell their home, upgrade and receive the proposed $6500 tax credit.

Congress to Extend $8000 Tax Credit for Military Personnel
As a Veteran and a Realtor, it makes me proud to see our government adjusting the Tax
Credit for our military members who have been outside of the US for at least 90 days over
the past year. We often have such a bond with the those who are serving or who have
served, because we understand the hard work and dedication it takes to protect our country.
Our Military personnel, under both the House and Senate versions of the bill, members of the armed services, U.S. Foreign Service or intelligence agencies would need to show they worked outside the country for at least 90 days in the past year. The tax credit would be extended for one year, until Nov. 30, 2010. The House passed the bill 416 - 0.
If you serve in an area that has a heavy military influence or if you serve in an area that has a few Veterans are returning. Education is the key, lets make sure all the men and women serving are informed and afforded the opportunity to get the Tax Credit.

Cumberland County Schools' sixth annual Reading Rocks. All 87 county public schools were represented by students, parents, teachers and staff. In parade-fashion, dressed to brave the weather in warm jackets and sweaters to make the 11/2-mile trek through downtown to promote the merits of reading and literacy.
In the sprit of participation, my daughter and I spent a little time together walking. It was a truly enjoyable witnessing the students and thousands of people be so excited about Reading!
Fort Bragg Area Finally Gets an Upscale Movie Theather ( Millstone 14)
Hope Mills introduced this weekend the first upscale movie theather in our area. The theater was very impressive and the customer service also matched. We now have luxury, reclining seats, a much need upgrades 36 in the community .
