Healthy Habits Natural Market: Orwigsburg PA - 07/31/09 12:12 PM

One of my favorite retail shops in the area is Buddy and Susie Touchinsky's Healthy Habits Natural Market, located on Route 61 near Orwigsburg, PA.
Buddy is also the owner and chiropractor of Blue Mountain Family Chiropractic (and his office is conveniently located right next to the store). Susie is an occupational therapist at Seton Manor in Orwigsburg. So they both have health-related backgrounds and the store is a natural extension of their professions.
Buddy says, "we are embarking on a mission to make it easier to be healthy. Healthy Habits Natural Market is a health food store, but … (3 comments)

Rismedia July Issue: Sellout? - 07/19/09 04:07 PM
I have a background in publishing/pr and have owned 2 magazines in my prior-to-real estate career. So I was intrigued by the cover article "Under One Roof" / Everyone wins when real estate brokerages and banks work together.
Realtor magazine a year ago did a one-page editorial piece on in-house lending/title that was a shameless plug for the big box companies that have inhouse everything (title, mortgage, real estate, etc). It read like an AD not editorial and turned me off completely. I personally do NOT believe that having all services under one roof makes the experiece better for a buyer, … (8 comments)

Advantage XI vs. Top Producer - 07/16/09 07:04 PM
I am trying to decide between a CRM and Transaction Management product. If anyone is using these, can you tell me which one you use and what you love/hate about it?
I like that TP is web-based and can be used from ANY computer. Advantage must be loaded on your desktop and you pay per computer you register.
I hear Advantage is the better TM program, though. I am looking for first hand experience and advice please!
I have a small office and would like to have everyone on the same system.

203k Made SIMPLE? Yes, for your clients.......... - 07/14/09 01:01 PM

Via Colleen Craig (Southern California Mortgage Professional):
203k MADE SIMPLE?
Ok, maybe not, but I will attempt to make it as simple as possible for the client to understand and want to read on.  For many of us in the business who are " in the know"  we forget that we need to go back to the basics and spell it out in simple terms for others to understand.  So I've compiled some information based on my most recent commonly asked questions just this week.
In Southern California, FHA loans were just not utilized over the past 10 or so years because of the FHA Maximum Mortgage … (1 comments)

Choosing The Perfect CRM/Transaction Software - 07/14/09 12:54 PM
I am not an indecisive person. I normally find what I like quickly, make a decision, and go for it.
But over the past 2 years I've been struggling to find and settle on Customer Relationship Management  and Transaction Management software, and I'm no closer to deciding on one. Everything I've tried I am half-satisfied with.
1. I need CRM software so the agents can keep up to date on their clients, and keep in constant touch with them.
2. I need TM software to track the sales! I wanted TM software where we could upload reports, sales contracts etc and … (14 comments)

Welcoming Schuylkill Appraisal Services to "The Rain" - 07/12/09 01:37 PM
This morning I set up a new profile for my new company, Schuylkill Appraisal Services.
Schuylkill Executives, LLC is the entity that owns Realty Executives, our Pottsville real estate firm.
I do business with numerous banks, lenders, attorneys, and other professionals. Realty Executives is constantly getting calls from these professionals asking us to appraiser properties for trusts, estates, divorces, etc. The answer used to be, "We are not appraisers, but I can give you a BPO or CMA."
No longer! Now we can say "We are not appraisers. But our sister company, Schuylkill Appraisals, can help you!."

FHA loans vs Conventional loans - Knowing the true comparisons - 07/11/09 10:17 AM
Great comparison Jeff! I am reblogging.
Via Jeff Belonger -- The FHA Expert.com -- FHA Loans -- FHA mortgages - USDA loans (Infinity Home Mortgage Company, Inc):

FHA loans seem to be one of the main choice of mortgages in the last 6 months or so. There are several reasons for this, which should be spelled out below in my comparison. What I hate hearing is that FHA mortgages have taken the spot of the subprime loans. This is not true by any part of the imagination. This statement is from those that are inexperienced in both the mortgage and the … (1 comments)

Editing What info is posted on your wall at Facebook? - 07/10/09 09:07 AM
Does anyone know how to go back and edit so not all your "friends" updates appear on your wall? I have so many friends at this point I only want certain ones with their status updates and posts to automatically feed through onto my wall. Any pointers?
I know when you have  a NEW friend connection you can choose/not choose to have their stuff feed into your page at that point. How about going back and undoing that?

Cheesy Realtor Ads - 07/07/09 08:22 PM
I stumbled across this site today that had me laughing ... because this is SO TRUE.
There is actually a blog out there dedicated to really bad realtor ads.
Check it out!
The site is called The Official Real”ad”tor Awards and its webpage states:
"Here at the Real”ad”tor Awards headquarters we are working around the clock to showcase the most superb talent from the men and women in the Real Estate advertising world. Together we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve had the best of times and the worst of times. But in the end, victory comes only to those that persevere.

It's Half Time! How are YOU Doing? - 07/05/09 12:01 PM
As the holiday weekend fades and we all get ready to go back to work on Monday (yeah, I know--many of us worked on the 4th--me included) try to carve out a few hours on Monday or Tuesday to evaluate where you are in your 2009 goals/plans. I spent 4 hours this morning doing just that and I was surprised by some of the numbers, and not surprised by others. I evaluated my personal numbers, and those of my company, plus the Schuylkill Real Estate market in general.
Now you may or many not be a numbers freak, like I am. … (4 comments)

Private Communities -- Double Tax? - 07/05/09 09:12 AM
There is a really interesting article this morning in the POCONO RECORD regarding Pennsylvania's private communities and a movement in Harrisburg to address the situation where homeowners in these gated communities pay state and municipal and school taxes... yet receive less benefits than homeowners NOT in private communities. Read here:

http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090705/NEWS/907050330

I lived in a gated community, Lake Wynonah, for 11 years and it never occurred to me that I was paying dues to the association + all my other taxes, yet not reaping the benefit of community services such as municipal police, public road paving etc. I wanted … (6 comments)

Need Computer Help: I'm in an endless loop! - 07/04/09 10:15 AM
I think my computer is infected with some sort of malware. I have this message that comes up on my screen and will NOT go away no matter what I try! I have scanned my system for viruses and every time I scan, it finds 20+ infections (I use Spyware Doctor + Antivirus) which I then fix.
Here's the message:

Anyone else ever see this?
Advice?

UPDATE:
I FIGURED IT OUT! It was a program that had somehow embedded itself in my STARTUP items. I went to windows defender, and found no infection. Used Spyware Doctor--nothing. Trend … (8 comments)
