Grilled Peaches - Or Toni's Not Grilled Peaches - 08/28/11 03:12 PM
I love peaches and just realized I have not had a good basket of peaches yet this year. I'm going to try these next weekend when I have time to cook.
Thanks Toni!

Via Toni Weidman, New Port Richey, Florida (Re/Max Sunset Realty):
I found a recipe for grilled peaches that is wonderful. But then decided it needed a make-over to make it easier so I’ve posted both versions here:  The original from Fresh Market: and Toni’s Not Grilled Peaches. Ingredients:4 Tbls unsalted butter-melted.2 Tbls dark brown sugar1 tsp ground cinnamon4 peaches, unpeeled, halved, and pitted.⅓ c white baking chocolate, finely … (0 comments)

20 Ways for Brokers to Reward Agents - 08/28/11 01:57 PM

Money is tight! (Duh. Understatement of the year, I know). But that doesn't mean we must shut down all the perks and squeeze the staff and agents till they cannot breathe any more. There are plenty of small things that cost very little (or nothing) to enact to make the office fun, positive, and a place where agents and the staff enjoy going to work every day. Just get creative! For example...

1. Reward one agent each month with a special parking space prominently in front of the office. Pick different critera: number of new listings this month, dollar volume closed … (6 comments)

Meet Erica Ramus - 08/28/11 11:12 AM
I was honored with this post! I should have photographed Jon and Olga as well.
I love meeting people who I have "met" online only. Last year I went to Phoenix and the Grand Canyon and met up with several great people -- Jay Thompson, Sedona Kathy, and Carra Riley in particular. While the meetups were brief they were memorable.
Every time I travel I do try to meet as many online friends as possible. This was a great trip. My only regret is that I missed meeting Jon's daughter Inna and her husband John, and I also missed coffee with … (4 comments)

School starts tomorrow, August 29, 2011 here in most Schuylkill County schools, including the Pottsville Area School District.
Like many of the area schools Pottsville has a dress code policy, which you can read about here. Some changes were made in July 2011 so if you have a student in this district, pay attention to the yellow highlights.
Many Pottsville residents are hard core football fans and enjoy buying season tickets. Here is the game info for 2011 season. The sports season is online for all Pottsville Area school sports.

Blue Mountain School District does have a dress code. A copy of the Blue Mountain Dress Code policy is available (click on link). At first some students and parents didn't like it, but the dress code is very simple and makes choices … (0 comments)

Four great ways to blow your home purchase - 08/27/11 09:25 PM
This is a great post below on how to screw up your Schuylkill County home purchase. I have had every one of these things happen to buyers of mine. It is not pretty.
I had a buyer once get mad at her boss 2 weeks before closing and she QUIT her job. Duh. Bad move.
I have had buyers buy brand new cars and charge entire rooms of furnishings. Don't do it.
I have had buyers blow through their savings by taking a trip to the beach right before they needed it to close.
And document ALL deposits you make -- … (4 comments)

Tower City, PA Retail / Service / Investment Opportunity - 08/18/11 10:13 PM
239 S Yohe St Tower City, PA 17980
SchuylkillBusiness.com

Former hardware store with 30 storage units (rented). This location is in the heart of Porter Township, where the population must travel for miles to purchase necessities. This location would make a great retail location (the area needs a grocery store, bakery, hardware store, lumber store, feed store, garden store, etc). It is big enough to subdivide the 9000 sq.ft into multiple types of retail areas. Area residents must drive to Pine Grove, Elizabethville or towards Harrisburg to buy groceries and basic supplies. Services needed in the area include a veterinarian, doctor's office, … (0 comments)

Emerald Ash Borer in Schuylkill County - 08/14/11 05:40 PM

Throughout Pennsylvania this summer we are seeing signs and billboards all over the place warning people not to move firewood. This is because the Emerald Ash Borer beetle is spreading and damaging our trees. There are also purple bags hanging on many trees in Schuylkill County, where they are trying to collect / count beetles to see just how bad this problem is here.
From the USDA website, they have a strong warning about how dangerous this is to our forests:
Promise America you won’t move firewood. America’s neighborhoods and forests are under attack. The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) beetle has destroyed … (4 comments)

The "Big Six" Home Selling Factors - 08/03/11 12:03 PM
As much as we'd like to think that we -- as realtors or as sellers -- control everything, that is not true. There are many things that are out of our control when it comes to selling your Schuylkill County home.
