As with any profession, Realtors have a purpose: To aid in the buying or selling of a property. We have a Code, and we must abide by it to call ourselves Realtors. That includes having the best interests of our clients at the forefront of everything we do. Now how many of us can surely say that we do this at all times?
The choice we make every day
The real estate market is full of opportunity because its a HUGE portion of the average family's income; a mortgage is usually quite a bit of money! Thats why there's billboards, commercials, TV programs, and all kinds of other advertisements to tell the client how he should spend his money on that house of his dreams. With opportunity comes Those That Would Profit from others ignorance. Real Estate is complicated, and there's plenty of profiteers that make the choice to profit over helping the client to make a good decision.
A Higher Calling
I got into Real Estate because some successful Agents thought I would choose Service over Profit. I'm thankful that I was afforded that opportunity to Serve in such a Significant fashion, and though I always look at the profit I will make it doesn't drive me to change the advice I would give as a professional in my industry. I'm not bragging in the least, it's just who I've become. I see who I want to be and I know who they are, and the rest is a matter of becoming that which I understand and respect.

I'm so excited that we as Realtors can differentiate ourselves by being who it is that we're meant to be! And we get to aid in a process that can make a positive difference in the average person's life! Who are these people? Our clients! They're looking for direction and by being who we promised we would be, who we are as Realtors, we can make a good living and build lifetime relationships that we can be proud of.
The Seriousness of It All
Just take a moment to consider how well we can serve those that would entrust us with their Decision: That decision which they'll be living in for many years to come. And once that fullness comes upon you, that responsibility should be our Calling; think of how blessed we are as Realtors to hold that power and be joyous in using it. Our industry is screaming for You, who Cares about and Works dutifully for his client. And smiles throughout as understanding becomes purpose.
