Procuring Cause: How can we make it less of an issue? - 04/30/11 11:54 PM
Procuring Cause: How can we make it less of an issue?
If there was one word that would universally describe Procuring Cause in the real estate world, it would be "confusing."
The general consensus among real estate agents is that there really is no easy definition of Procuring Cause. It ranges from one extreme (The first person to get the buyer to walk through the front door) to the other (Who cares, as long as I get paid).
Most, if not all, real estate consumers have no clue what it is, either. In fact, trying to explain it to them can … (15 comments)

These are a few of my favorite things. - 04/28/11 11:54 PM
These are a few of my favorite things.
Social Media. Every 3rd person I meet seems to be a social media "expert". Even though I'm still learning a lot about SEO, WordPress, Hyper-Local marketing, etc., just because you were laid off from your job and had some cool tech-looking cards made, doesn't mean I should pay you thousands of dollars to get me to the top of Google. It might take me a minute, but I'll get there myself. If I need your help, I'll ask, thank you. PS. Follow me on Twitter! @EricMichaelRE

Do You Twitter? - 04/27/11 07:12 PM
Do you Twitter?
I don't know about you, but I've been getting into Twitter a bit lately.
I opened up my account at Twitter on August 1, 2010, but didn't do anything with it until recently. For the last week or so, I've been semi-addicted.
There are all sorts of conversations about real estate, technology, personal thoughts and whatever you or anyone else decides they want to talk about. Pretty cool stuff.
So far, I've really only talked to a couple of people on a regular basis. @AMelissa1 and Bill Spears, aka BLiz, from the @LizSpearteam. Followed closely by @realtormatthew, … (21 comments)

Happy Easter! - 04/24/11 09:20 PM
Happy Easter!
Hi everyone.
Just wanted to write a little blog to say Happy Easter to everyone.
My kids were up early, excited that "something" might have came to the house last night. They woke me up and demanded that I get up and come downstairs. So, I did. Even if it was slowly. (half to wake up, half to make them wait a little)
The Easter egg hunt lasted about, oh, I don't know. Maybe 2.4 minutes. Just over a hundred plastic, candy or money-filled eggs. I wish they would clean up the house like that.
My wife was already … (7 comments)

I Hope I Don't Regret This - 04/13/11 05:27 PM
Hi everyone! I wrote a blog a couple months back (the link to it is below) about real estate auction sites and that I really didn't like them. Well, it turns out that a new friend of mine, Mitch Gover, has came up with a pretty good way to combat the downside of the already established auction sites.
I had a long phone conversation with him this afternoon (my lunch was cold by the time we hung up) and I think you'll like this option.
The biggest up-side to his new auction business is that there's really no down-side. Check it … (0 comments)

Farmington, MI and Farmington Hills, MI Pothole Reporting and Repair Info - 04/10/11 08:58 PM
Farmington, MI and Farmington Hills, MI Pothole Reporting and Repair Info
Isn't it amazing that potholes appear year after year, without fail?
The main reason that they keep coming back is water: precipitation that shows up as ice, rain and snow then seeps into pavement cracks, freezes, causing the pavement and underlying roadbed material to expand. Temperatures eventually rise above freezing, the water melts, creating a cavity or void in the road. Potholes are mostly created when a vehicle drives over the cavity, cracking the pavement and loosens the roadbed material. More precipitation, another freezing/thawing cycle throughout the late winter and … (5 comments)

But They Told Me the Short Sale Was Already Approved! - 04/09/11 06:36 PM
A real estate friend of mine out in Las Vegas, Renee Burrows, recently wrote a blog about how a close acquaintance of hers was in the process of purchasing an "approved" short sale. There is No Such Thing as an APPROVED Short Sale! Each buyer has to be Approved by the bank(s) on a short sale.
Contact Eric Michael if you need any Short Sale information in Michigan, and Renee Burrows if you're in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Don't let this be your website. - 04/03/11 05:30 PM
Don't let this be your website.
Working in real estate, sometimes I miss out on some of the things I'd like to watch. Sporting events, for instance. I don't have a t.v. at the office, so I try to keep up with things online.
While it's not a big deal, I like to watch the Detroit Lions play (?) on Sundays or maybe catch the final round of this weeks golf tournament. Next week's Masters was what got me thinking about this.
Over the last year or two, there was a website (that shall remain unnamed) that would let you … (13 comments)
