Griffith Park designated historic-cultural monument

Today Griffith Park was designated a historic-cultural monument this morning, making it one of the largest landmarks in the country. The designation, approved unanimously by the Los Angeles City Council, puts major changes and developments in the park under the review of the city's Cultural Heritage Commission.

Some newer areas of the park, including freeways, the Los Angeles Zoo and the Autry National Center, are not subject to the same commission oversight. The city's Department of Recreation and Parks still owns and operates the 4,218-acre urban park.

Finally the park is given its due. However, the whole park was not provided the same designation, meaning potential development opportunities could affect parts of the park. Given the community's heavy involvement, I doubt this will ever happen. But something to be mindful of. In any case, this is awesome and I am happy to be a part of this city and the Los Feliz/Griffith Park neighborhood.

Gift for homebuyers

I am working with a local company in Los Angeles called Green Life Guru that provides both a home energy makeover and a "green" home makeover. For EcoBrokers and all agents alike, this is a great gift to your home buyers when they close on a home. Prices vary, but you can expect to pay similar costs to a regular home inspection. I have been doing it for a few months and had it done at my home as well. It's amazing what you find out that makes your home more efficient without having to completely remodel the home. Clients love it and it's a great way to promote yourself and your business and of course the environment. Best to you! Happy Earth Day!

p.s. I should mention that this gift provides the inspection only. A detailed analysis is provided. Not the remediation costs, that's up to the homeowner. But what a way to discover your home in greater detail and learn to make it more efficient.
