TEXAS CLEAN ENERGY PROJECTS RECEIVE TAX CREDITS
WASHINGTON (U.S. Department of Energy) - President Obama has awarded $2.3 billion in Recovery Act Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credits for 183 clean energy manufacturing projects across the United States, including eight in Texas.
Texas tax credits include:
$2.7 million for Alstom Inc. and Subsidiaries' Amarillo wind towers, $495,510 for Cooper Power Systems LLC's Nacogdoches smart grid, $1.4 million for Johnson Plate & Tower Fabrication Inc.'s Canutillo wind towers, $3.5 million for … (0 comments)

Great to see the creation and expansion of education and the health industry across west Texas.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy Abilene Campus, opened on 08-12-2007. Classes are held in a Spanish-themed 36,000-square-footbuilding, constructed at a cost of $15.5 million. The initial enrollment of 40 is expected to grow to 160 by fall of 2011. Also, by that time, the school is expected to have 40 professors and staff.

Single-family building permits August 2009 - Amarillo(Housing : Amarillo) 9/2/2009
The City of Amarillo issued 61 single-family building permits with a total construction value of $12,910,230 during August 2009. Year-to-date the city has issued 373 single-family building permits with a total construction value of $86,373,119.
The city also issued five one-family attached building permits with a total valuation of $1,679,375 during August 2009.
During August 2008, the City of Amarillo issued 34 single-family building permits with a total construction value of $8,077,591.

Flirting with 200,000 population: Growth slow, steady 
Amarillo city planners estimate the Amarillo population to be right around 191,514 for 2009. At the city's slow-and-steady growth rate of 1 or 2 percent a year, the population likely won't break the 200,000 ceiling by 2010, City Planning Director Kelley Shaw said. Despite a mostly growth-is-good mantra, the likelihood of staying under 200,000 for the 2010 census has some City officials sighing with relief.
