midland: High Plains CCIM District meeting in Abilene Texas - 06/08/09 01:09 PM
High Plains CCIM District of the North Texas Chapter of the CCIM Institue 5 June 2009 by Erik Johnson CCIM Designees from Abilene, San Angelo, Midland, Lubbock, Odessa, and Amarillo met to formalize the new district that will service designees from West Texas. The meeting was held at Fairway Oaks Country Club on Friday and Saturday. The commercial real estate professionals met to approve By Laws and vote on officers. The officers elected are: Scott Senter, President - Abilene; Paul Johnson, Vice President - Abilene; Gabe Irving, Secretary/Treasurer - Amarillo. Midland economic contraction result of oil, gas prices(Economy : Midland) 6/1/2009 The ripples in the Midland and Odessa economies caused by last fall's plunge in crude oil and natural gas prices have grown to waves as they move through the region's general economy. The Midland-Odessa Regional Economic Index, prepared by Amarillo economist Karr Ingham, showed the biggest month-to-month drop in its history - 2.2 points - and remains barely positive, up 1.1 percent from April 2008. Ingham predicted the index could turn negative next month. Among the last dominoes to fall has been retail activity, which fell about 1 percent in April

Former Heritage Building on schedule to open in summer 2010(Public Facilities : Midland) 3/23/2009 With steel reinforcements, plumbing and main electrical installations almost done on the Midland County Courts & Administration Building, the workforce is about to double to kick the $19.5 million remodeling project into high gear. The 11-story building at 505 N. Loraine St. will be ready for occupancy in 2010. The former Heritage Building is only two blocks north of the 70-year-old courthouse it is replacing. The move is about space, and the new 229,000 sf headquarters will offer more than the current four-story 71,000-sf digs. Unlike the old
