family: Wordless Wednesday~Hoodrunner or Roadrider?? - 02/01/12 04:30 PM
Here's a good one for Wordless Wednesday-how about a Roadrunner on the hood of a car!  My son caught this mischievous roadrunner at the school he attends in Mesa Arizona a couple of days ago. He says the little guy is always running around in the parking lot, you never know what you'll catch him doing.....

family: Friday's Fotos~1964 Chevy Stepside Pickup - 12/30/11 07:51 PM
This pickup has been in my family since 1964 when my dad bought it new.  A few years ago my mom decided it was time to pass it down to the next generation and my kids were thrilled. My husband and sons did a complete frame-off restoration, which took about 5 years to complete.  This is my 17 year old son on his junior prom night, excited to be picking up his date in "grandpa's truck".Thanks Bryan Pocock with Adagio Images for the photo~

family: Friday's Fotos~Mad Hatter's Tea Cups in Disneyland - 11/11/11 01:32 PM
One of the funnest rides in Disneyland is Mad Hatter's Tea Cups located in Fantasyland.  It's great for all ages and the lines aren't usually too long.  Over the years my kids have made it a point to ride the tea cups at least one time during our vacation, if not multiple times.  Now that my kids are older, they still enjoy it!  This is my 11 year old son and 22 year old daughter from our last visit in October, clearly they're having a blast! If only I could spin the cup faster.......

family: Silent Saturday-My Boys - 05/28/11 05:12 PM
My oldest son recently moved to Phoneix Arizona to attend vocational school.  He and his younger brother are best friends so the separation has been a little difficult.  A couple of weeks ago our family visited him in Phoenix and the two boys were together again!

family: Friday's Fotos~5th Grade Model Rockets~St George Utah - 05/27/11 02:24 PM
My son just completed 5th grade here in St George.  One of the last activities his class did was a science project where each child received a model rocket to paint and customize. They were each able to launch their own model rockets from the playground at their school.  Some of them went as high at 275 feet!  They each had a parachute, that the child was responsible for tucking into the rocket correctly.  If assembled correctly, the rocket gently glided back to earth with the help of the parachute.

My son had so much fun with this project.  He … (6 comments)

family: Friday's Fotos~Rescued American White Pelicans~Phoenix Zoo - 05/20/11 12:50 PM
While visiting the Phoenix Zoo recently I happened to catch a glimpse of these beautiful birds puttering around in "The Swamp". "The Swamp" is actually the Wetlands Habitat and has become home to 6 American White Pelicans.  The birds were originally from the Gulf area and were rescued and taken to the Jackson Zoo in Jackson Mississippi to protect them from the oil spill.  All of the birds have wing injuries which prevented them from flying away from the oil slick and cannot be released back into the wild.

family: Motivational Monday-Hoover Dam Built Without Any Computers! - 05/16/11 07:08 PM
My family visited Hoover Dam recently and I found it very motivational. Today we can't seem to get through an hour without the help of computers.  The monumental task of building Hoover Dam was taken on by industrious human beings that had faith in themselves, their work ethic and their government, all without a single computer!
The dam was completed in 1935, two years ahead of schedule.  To this day, Hoover Dam is considered one of the seven modern engineering wonders by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The dam measure 726.4 feet in height-taller than the Washington Monument, 1,224 feet … (9 comments)

family: Silent Saturday-Squirrel Monkeys~Phoenix Zoo - 05/14/11 03:32 PM
My family visited the Phoenix Zoo recently and had the pleasure of walking through the Monkey Village which takes you right inside the habitat of the zoo's Squirrel Monkeys. There are 16 Squirrel Monkeys living in the habitat, which leap from tree to tree and scamaper along the hand ropes beside the path.  Each monkey is named after a Star Wars character.  They enjoy sucking nectar from the honeysuckle plants throughout the exhibit.

We caught this one taking a nap high up on the limb of a tree.  We almost missed him, but my daughter noticed his leg dangling from … (5 comments)

family: Feeding the Giraffes in Phoenix Arizona - 05/10/11 12:40 PM
My family recently visited Phoenix Arizona and while there, went to the Phoenix Zoo.  I must admit, I didn't expect too much because we regularly go to the San Diego Zoo and I thought it would be hard to top it!  Was I pleasantly surprised.
The Phoeniz Zoo has some wonderful interactive exhibits, including the Giraffe Encounter. The Giraffe Encounter is an opportunity to hand feed the giraffes from an observation deck located in the African Savanna section of the zoo. Feeding times are held from 10:30-11:30 and 1-2 each day.  I am so glad that we were able to participate, … (9 comments)

family: Wordless Wednesday-Puppy Love - 04/20/11 10:42 PM
We have two minature schnauzers that have become an important part of our family.  Even my big, strong, tough 20 year old son has a soft spot in his heart for them.  This is Kody and TJ sharing a special moment several weeks ago.  I love the sheer joy and devotion you can see in this photo.

family: Thankful Thursday-My Motley Crew - 03/17/11 10:43 PM
I am so thankful for my motley crew (4 great kids) and the chance I have to be their mom! We don't get to spend as much time together now that they're growing up and doing their own things.  I took this chance to take a "family photo" in front of the R (for Rogers) at Disneyland/California Adventure when we were there during Christmas.  There's nothing better than family:)

family: Thankful Thursdays-Smiling Kids & Sunsets - 07/08/10 12:00 PM
This photo shows two things that I am always thankful for, whether it's Thursday or not!  I love the beach, and especially sunset at the beach.  The peace that I feel watching the sun set and knowing that tomorrow is another day.  The other thing I am eternally grateful for is my family.  My children bring me so much joy and happiness.  The smile of my 10 year old let's me know that he is happy and safe, which I am always thankful for.
