family fun: Wordless Wednesday~Hoodrunner or Roadrider?? - 02/01/12 04:30 PM
Here's a good one for Wordless Wednesday-how about a Roadrunner on the hood of a car! My son caught this mischievous roadrunner at the school he attends in Mesa Arizona a couple of days ago. He says the little guy is always running around in the parking lot, you never know what you'll catch him doing.....

family fun: Friday's Fotos~1964 Chevy Stepside Pickup - 12/30/11 07:51 PM
This pickup has been in my family since 1964 when my dad bought it new. A few years ago my mom decided it was time to pass it down to the next generation and my kids were thrilled. My husband and sons did a complete frame-off restoration, which took about 5 years to complete. This is my 17 year old son on his junior prom night, excited to be picking up his date in "grandpa's truck".Thanks Bryan Pocock with Adagio Images for the photo~

family fun: Wordless Wednesday~Can You Guess Where This Is?? - 11/16/11 01:15 PM
My daughter recently took this photo and shared it with me. I thought it was beautiful, and not something we see everyday! Can you guess where it was taken? There's several landmarks that might tip you off, if you look closely.... Please feel free to guess and share any fun photos of places you've been in the remarks!

family fun: Friday's Fotos~Mad Hatter's Tea Cups in Disneyland - 11/11/11 01:32 PM
One of the funnest rides in Disneyland is Mad Hatter's Tea Cups located in Fantasyland. It's great for all ages and the lines aren't usually too long. Over the years my kids have made it a point to ride the tea cups at least one time during our vacation, if not multiple times. Now that my kids are older, they still enjoy it! This is my 11 year old son and 22 year old daughter from our last visit in October, clearly they're having a blast! If only I could spin the cup faster.......

family fun: Friday's Fotos~Fun in Disneyland - 11/04/11 05:35 PM
My family just returned from a quick trip to Disneyland and we had a great time! We love to go in th fall and enjoy all the cute Halloween decorations and festivities in the park. The crowds weren't too bad and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. This photo was taken in Toontown by Donald Duck's boat. We don't usually spend much time in Toontown, but this shot was one I couldn't pass up. Disneyland is just about my favorite place on earth, it's nice to get away and forget about the outside world for a day or two:)

family fun: Wordless Wednesday~Cheetahs in the Grass - 10/26/11 03:09 PM
My family had the chance to visit the Phoenix Zoo this summer and we thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm partial to the San Diego Zoo, but was pleasantly surprised at all of the exhibits and activities available at the Phoenix Zoo. Just as we were about to leave after a fun day, we spied these cheetahs relaxing in the cool grass.

family fun: Friday's Fotos~The Narrows in Zion National Park - 09/30/11 06:21 PM
The Narrows in Zion National Park is one of the most popular hikes in the park. Hikers are allowed to walk a few miles into the Narrows without a permit. Most of the hike is river walking, so it is a bit strenuous. Slippery rocks and swift water crossings make it a little tricky at times. The water is deep enough to swim in at several points along the hike, if you choose. My family likes this hike because it's not too difficult for any of us and we enjoy the hike in the refreshing water on a hot afternoon!

family fun: Friday's Fotos~Polar Bear at the San Diego Zoo - 08/12/11 10:36 AM
We were recently at the San Diego Zoo and one of my daughter's favorite animals is the polar bear. We were lucky enough to be there on a beautiful day and the bears were very active and playful. There were some carrots scattered around and this bear was certainly enjoying them. We thought it was interesting to see him/her hold the carrot between his enormous paws (like our dogs do) and chomp away!

family fun: Friday's Fotos~Koalas at the San Diego Zoo - 07/29/11 03:50 PM
I love zoos, and especially the San Diego Zoo! The San Diego Zoo has a fabulous variety of animals to view and the habitats are all so well maintained. I also like that there are employees and volunteers located at some of the exhibits. They roam around teaching about the animals, explaining their behavior and giving you little tidbits of information about the individual animals. One of my daughter's favorite exhibits is the koalas. We spent quite a few minutes watching them....sleep! Interestingly, koalas sleep approximately 23 hours a day. There were a couple that woke up long enough to re-arrange

family fun: Wordless Wednesday~San Diego Sunset - 07/27/11 03:26 PM
The sunsets at the beach in San Diego are so beautiful, especially to someone who lives far away in the middle of the desert! My family was recently vacationing in San Diego and we viewed several spectacular sunsets over the ocean while there. It's fun to see all of the people who come down to the beach on a clear evening to witness the sunset, take pictures and enjoy the view. I love St George, but this is pretty hard to beat;)

family fun: Silent Saturday-Gargoyles Atop Notre Dame - 06/18/11 07:36 PM
Several years ago my daughter and I had the chance to visit Paris France. A client of mine was an American but had lived in Paris for the last twenty years and invited us to go back to Paris with her for a visit. It was the chance of a lifetime and a trip we'll both cherish forever. We climbed everyone of the 387 narrow steps to get to the bell tower of Notre Dame and look at the breathtaking scenery of Paris from above. We also encountered these gruesome gargoyles, which are actually meant to protect the cathedral from evil

family fun: Silent Saturday-Monkey Business - 06/11/11 11:25 PM
My 11 year old son's favorite animal is the orangutan and luckily we got to see a couple at the Phoenix Zoo recently. There was even a baby orangutan, monkeying around! He was so cute, pestering his mom, playing with his dad and using somersaults as his mode of transportation. In this photo he's sitting on one pole and has his head on the other, who knows why? Your guess is as good as mine!

family fun: Silent Saturday-My Boys - 05/28/11 05:12 PM
My oldest son recently moved to Phoneix Arizona to attend vocational school. He and his younger brother are best friends so the separation has been a little difficult. A couple of weeks ago our family visited him in Phoenix and the two boys were together again!

family fun: Friday's Fotos~Rescued American White Pelicans~Phoenix Zoo - 05/20/11 12:50 PM
While visiting the Phoenix Zoo recently I happened to catch a glimpse of these beautiful birds puttering around in "The Swamp". "The Swamp" is actually the Wetlands Habitat and has become home to 6 American White Pelicans. The birds were originally from the Gulf area and were rescued and taken to the Jackson Zoo in Jackson Mississippi to protect them from the oil spill. All of the birds have wing injuries which prevented them from flying away from the oil slick and cannot be released back into the wild.

family fun: Motivational Monday-Hoover Dam Built Without Any Computers! - 05/16/11 07:08 PM
My family visited Hoover Dam recently and I found it very motivational. Today we can't seem to get through an hour without the help of computers. The monumental task of building Hoover Dam was taken on by industrious human beings that had faith in themselves, their work ethic and their government, all without a single computer! The dam was completed in 1935, two years ahead of schedule. To this day, Hoover Dam is considered one of the seven modern engineering wonders by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The dam measure 726.4 feet in height-taller than the Washington Monument, 1,224 feet

family fun: Silent Saturday-Squirrel Monkeys~Phoenix Zoo - 05/14/11 03:32 PM
My family visited the Phoenix Zoo recently and had the pleasure of walking through the Monkey Village which takes you right inside the habitat of the zoo's Squirrel Monkeys. There are 16 Squirrel Monkeys living in the habitat, which leap from tree to tree and scamaper along the hand ropes beside the path. Each monkey is named after a Star Wars character. They enjoy sucking nectar from the honeysuckle plants throughout the exhibit. We caught this one taking a nap high up on the limb of a tree. We almost missed him, but my daughter noticed his leg dangling from

family fun: Wordless Wednesday~The Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge (Colorado River Bridge) - 05/11/11 07:00 PM
On a recent trip to Phoenix Arizona my family decided to stop at the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge (Colorado River Bridge) just outside of Las Vegas Nevada. This bridge was constructed to divert traffic that normally traveled over the Hoover Dam. The bridge is named after two prominent local citizens who dedicated themselves to public service and the greater good. Mike O'Callaghan was a longtime Nevadan, former Governor, community leader and businessman. He died in March 2004 at the age of 74. Pat Tillman graduated with honors from ASU and played professional football for the Arizona Cardinals before joining the

family fun: Feeding the Giraffes in Phoenix Arizona - 05/10/11 12:40 PM
My family recently visited Phoenix Arizona and while there, went to the Phoenix Zoo. I must admit, I didn't expect too much because we regularly go to the San Diego Zoo and I thought it would be hard to top it! Was I pleasantly surprised. The Phoeniz Zoo has some wonderful interactive exhibits, including the Giraffe Encounter. The Giraffe Encounter is an opportunity to hand feed the giraffes from an observation deck located in the African Savanna section of the zoo. Feeding times are held from 10:30-11:30 and 1-2 each day. I am so glad that we were able to participate,
