nature photos: Friday's Fotos~Spring Sunset in St George Utah - 05/18/12 04:09 PM
One of the things I love about living in the southwest is the gorgeous sunsets that we get to see!  The brilliant oranges, warm yellows and vibrant reds all set against the crystal clear blue sky never get old to me....

nature photos: Wordless Wednesday~Hoodrunner or Roadrider?? - 02/01/12 04:30 PM
Here's a good one for Wordless Wednesday-how about a Roadrunner on the hood of a car!  My son caught this mischievous roadrunner at the school he attends in Mesa Arizona a couple of days ago. He says the little guy is always running around in the parking lot, you never know what you'll catch him doing.....

nature photos: Wordless Wednesday~The Narrows at Zion National Park~August 2011 - 01/18/12 05:15 PM

The Narrows in Zion National Park is by far the most popular destination for tourists who aren't afraid to get a little wet. Thousands of people don their water shoes and walking sticks to hike up river through the "narrow" slot canyon. Hikers can go for hours, all the way up to Orderville Canyon if they want, but not many make it that far. The water level can go from ankle deep to neck deep in just a few steps. It makes for an enjoyable, relaxing, refreshing day in the desert.
Because this is the biggest attraction in Zion, it … (7 comments)

nature photos: Friday's Fotos~Roadrunner in Kayenta - 10/21/11 04:33 PM
I was in Kayenta Desert Community this morning looking at building lots with some clients and happened upon this roadrunner.  He first ran across the street in front of my car and then I watched him climb onto some rocks. I quickly stopped my car, grabbed my camera and caught a photo or two before he danced off!

nature photos: Thankful Thursdays-Beauty in the Sky - 10/06/11 02:04 PM
I am so thankful for the beauty that southern Utah and St George offers on a daily basis!   On any given day, if you take the time to look around, you'll be delighted at the gorgeous scenery here.  It may be snow capped Pine Valley Mountain, sun drenched Red Mountain or the ever changing beauty in the sky.

nature photos: Friday's Fotos~Apple Valley Utah - 09/16/11 07:32 PM
Apple Valley Utah is one of Washington County's newest towns.  Located in a small valley just 12 miles east of Hurricane Utah, this little community consists of approximately 300 homes.  I took this photo just outside of Apple Valley as the sun was setting which gave the mountain a red glow.

nature photos: Wordless Wednesday~The Sky's On Fire - 09/08/11 11:07 AM

My family was driving home from Phoenix AZ last weekend and evening was upon us. We were just outside of Apple Valley as we rounded a curve and this magnificent sunset met us!  Layers of clouds that looked like they were on fire, it was just breathtaking.  Another wonderful benefit of living in the St George Utah area; ever changing, beautiful scenery!

nature photos: Silent Saturday~Sedona Arizona - 08/20/11 07:45 PM
I had never really been to Sedona Arizona before....I've always been in too big a hurry to get somewhere else! Well, I decided to stop and spend a few hours in Sedona last weekend. Now I can't wait to go back when I have more time to spend exploring the quaint shops, I want to visit a vortex or two and maybe take in Slide Rock State Park. This photo was taken from an outdoor cafe in downtown Sedona.  I thought it was absolutely gorgeous-red rocks, blue sky and puffy white clouds.

nature photos: Silent Saturday-That Silver Lining in the Clouds..... - 08/13/11 12:51 PM
On this Silent Saturday I wanted to share a beautiful, inspiring photo that exhibits silver lining in the clouds.  Just when you think the storm won't pass, the sun fights it's way through and you can see the spectacular rays of light shooting through the clouds.  Remember to look for that silver lining in the clouds......

nature photos: Wordless Wednesday~San Diego Sunset - 07/27/11 03:26 PM
The sunsets at the beach in San Diego are so beautiful, especially to someone who lives far away in the middle of the desert!  My family was recently vacationing in San Diego and we viewed several spectacular sunsets over the ocean while there.  It's fun to see all of the people who come down to the beach on a clear evening to witness the sunset, take pictures and enjoy the view.  I love St George, but this is pretty hard to beat;)

nature photos: Friday's Fotos~Storm Rolling in Over Red Mountain~St George Utah - 06/10/11 07:08 PM
Watching a storm roll in over Red Mountain is one of the many beautiful sights homeowners in Entrada at Snow Canyon enjoy each day.  I never get tired of looking at the azure blue sky and fluffly, snow white clouds against the backdrop of Red Mountain.  It's an ever changing scene!  In the winter Red Mountain is sometimes lightly dusted with a scattering of snow.  During the spring you can watch a storm approach from over the mountain and descend upon the valley.

nature photos: Wordless Wednesday-A Waterfall in St George Utah??? - 06/08/11 10:11 PM
I love Wordless Wednesday because it gives me the chance to run through my photos and choose one to to use each week!  This photo was taken of the waterfall descending off of the Gunlock Reservoir Spillway near St George Utah.  As the lake fills each spring, the excess water tumbles over the natural red rock spillway and down this waterfall into the Santa Clara River.
It truly is a sight to behold, a waterfall right here in St George Utah....

nature photos: Silent Saturday-Let the Sun Shine In! - 03/26/11 09:06 PM
After waking up to a dreary, cloudy, rainy day this morning it was nice to see the sun shine through the clouds later this afternoon. We don't get a whole lot of rain here in St George Utah, the average amount per year is 8.14 inches so I'm not complaining. We're glad to get the rain, but it's always nice to have the sun shining on your face and warming your day.

nature photos: Early Morning in Zion National Park-Weeping Rock - 01/25/11 08:16 PM
I took this photo last summer from the Weeping Rock trail in Zion National Park.  My family arrived early in the park that morning and this was the first stop we made.   I love the shadows and the crystal blue azure sky. Weeping Rock is a pretty easy hike. It's fun when you reach the top and see the water seeping and dripping from the rocks.

nature photos: Wordless Wednesday-Longing for Dragonflies - 01/19/11 04:02 PM
Wordless Wednesday-I'm longing for dragonflies.  I'm not much of a winter person, and I'm missing the lazy days of summer.  I love spendiing the afternoon with my family at one of the local fishing ponds and watching the dragonflies dart back and forth across the water.  Thank goodness Spring is just around the corner!

nature photos: Speechless Sunday-Sunset over St George Utah - 01/09/11 03:54 PM

There is always something beautiful to look at in St George Utah, whether it's the sunset, sunrise or billowing clouds in the azure blue sky.  My son eyed this sunset a couple of days ago and couldn't resist taking some photos of it. Take time to enjoy the beauty around you this weekend....

nature photos: Stunning Sunset in Nevada - 10/19/10 07:52 PM
My family and I were driving through the Nevada desert a few days ago and got to enjoy this stunning sunset.  I watched it for several minutes and then just couldn't pass up the opportunity to try and capture the beauty with my camera.  My photo doesn't do the scene justice, I'm afraid.  The sunlight shining through the clouds was practically blinding it was so bright.
