North Colorado Springs The sprawling U.S. Air Force Academy campus precludes most northward development between I-25 and the mountains. The area east of the Interstate, however, is poised for rapid growth. Existing neighborhoods include Black Forest, a heavily treed area of homes on lots of five acres or less and growing rapidly, and the country club community of Gleneagle, directly across I-25 from the academy.
