So, I am listening to a local radio station this morning on my way into work and a great thing happened!

First, for those out of the area,  I listen to 102.7 KIIS FM, hosted by Ryan Seacrest (also known as the host of "American Idol") and every morning they have a "Birthday Game" where the they announce a birthday month and if it your month, you call in quick. If you are the FIRST caller, you get on the air and win $500.00. Then, they will announce the actual date and if you have the same birthday month and day, the caller wins $10,000.00!

Back to the story...this morning a woman calls in and is in tears from the first moment that they get her on air. Her and her husband have 4 kids and are in foreclosure and need $5,000.00 to get out of it. She's a mess crying that she is now $500.00 closer and sure hopes for the $10,000. As the Co-Host of the radio show, Ellen, says the birthday date (I think it was Feb. 21), the girl screams that it IS her birthday! They go over it again and between the radio host and the caller it's clear that they did in fact call her birthday and she just won $10,000!!! She says, I only needed $5,000 but now I have more than I need to get stuff for my kids, too. They put her on hold for a break and when they came back on air, they put her on again to see how she was handling it and she was ecstatic, as I would be, too! She had called everyone trying to tell them and no one was answering and she hadn't decided on whether to tell her husband or not...she was thinking of just paying them current to surprise him.

Now, as I had a few tears in my eyes (I always cry when I hear someone else), I thought how great that it went to someone who needed it! Then, as I showed up at work and started working on all my escrow files with Short Sales and NOD's, I thought...that radio station just saved a home!! I would much rather them keep that house than me get that short sale or REO Sale in a few months!

Kind of a "feel good" story and it's helping us out indirectly by that family being able to save the house!
