Bringing Hollywood to New Mexico - 08/28/09 08:10 PM

Over the course of the last five years, the government of New Mexico has been working hard to draw attention to the growing film and television opportunities in our state. Incredible tax breaks and incentives, new sound stages, and a sprawling landscape that encompasses almost every side of nature are just a few of the many things that draws big companies like Lionsgate, Paramount, and Fox. So just what will this mean for the residents of our state?
People who are from places like California and New York won’t understand how strange it is for people in our region to … (0 comments)

Back to School! - 08/26/09 06:42 PM

Las Cruces is home to New Mexico State University and its sister school, Dona Ana Branch Community College. Both of these institutions are thriving and NMSU alone hosted 17,000 students last year! The departure and arrival of these college students greatly affects our community’s population and economy; the town seems to boom come August.
Last week while driving, it become glaringly obvious that almost all of the students that had left had come back. The frontage roads were full and the lines to exit the Interstate were excruciatingly long! The traffic doesn’t bother me so much, but I could … (0 comments)

Staging How-To's & How It Works - 08/21/09 06:56 PM

If you’re thinking about selling your home or even buying one, you’ve probably heard the term ’staging.’ Staging is essentially the act of making your home as desirable as possible by doing things like cleaning, organizing, and refreshing key rooms. Over the recent years, staging has become a vital (and popular) part of the selling process and almost any agent will suggest that you hire a professional ’stager’ to take care of your home. However, I have learned staging can be a simple and easy process than can be done by any seller; all you need is a willingness to … (5 comments)

Saturday Road Trip - Silver City, NM - 08/18/09 02:38 PM

After a particularly hot and muggy couple of days, my husband and I decided to take a fun day trip to Silver City, NM, a quaint community of about 12,000 nestled in an exceptional place somewhere between the mountains and the desert. Silver City possesses all the benefits of a true small town; the traffic is light, the people are friendly, and the businesses and destinations are unique. With the genuine sense of community also comes some of the perks of a larger city. Silver City has a Wal-Mart Supercenter and three other grocery stores, a chain shopping complex, and … (0 comments)

Since Monday, a big topic of conversation around the office (and at home) has been marketing and its many mediums. We are making a big effort to stay ahead of the curve and provide our potential clients, colleagues, and friends with valuable information in the ways they like to find it; blogging, Facebook, Twitter, and so on. I am so grateful to work in an industry where my goal is clear-

RSS Feed - The Info You Want Delivered in Real Time - 08/13/09 10:30 PM
I’m sure you’ve seen the funny little orange and white block on almost all of your favorite websites. Have you ever wondered what it does? The truth is, it’s one of the most helpful and beneficial tools that I have come across.Since technology and our means of communication change and develop so rapidly, my generation (and beyond) can have a hard time keeping up with the pace. It seems like Generation Y adapts and adjusts to all the additions to the Internet quite easily, but for those who don’t, this cute, short little video can explain exactly what that orange and … (2 comments)

Did You Know...? - 08/12/09 10:44 PM
Yesterday, I went to a Social Media Networking seminar given by Mike D. Merrill. In a relatively short span of 4 and a half hours, we were given a lot of information regarding the benefits of  the social networking sites like Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook.  These are not just social” networks they are the sources of Information that millions of  us have come rely upon. Information is transmitted to you, or by you, before that information is available on any other media, and many times it is information that is not available anywhere else. As interesting as all of that was, I was struck by the discussion … (8 comments)

Going Green - Easy Ways to Save Money and Live Healthier - 08/11/09 12:07 PM

A few days ago, I was doing simple tasks around the home; I had laundry going, towels drying, and just a few dishes left to wash. I started the warm water and watched it run down the drain for a second before I asked myself, "I wonder how much water I use on any given day?"
The very next day, I received a list of "consumption statistics" via my RSS feed, essentially detailing how wasteful we can be without even realizing it. According to the article I read, the average US citizen consumed 575 liters of water per day in … (3 comments)
