A Deed In Leiu means you are giving your home back to the Mortgage Company, or Bank, that you pay your payments too.  If you were to do this the bank will save tons of money on legal fees to foreclose on you or have you removed from the home after the foreclosure process is complete.  It is in their best interest for you to cooperate and give them a Deed In Leiu.  It is reported on your credit report the same as a foreclosure, affecting your credit score from 7 to 10 YEARS.
