I'm challenging you to fight fair! Can you? - 08/30/11 07:06 PM
Bryan's blogs are very thoughtful, informative and interesting.  In his current blog he mentions controversial blogs and how people comment on those blogs.  He is lobbying for a balanced, polite and measured approach to comments.  People can disagree and should if they have another opinion about a blog.  But they should not be disagreeable in their response.  We should play nice when we comment.

KINDERGARTEN MEMORIES - 08/29/11 12:28 AM

KINDERGARTEN MEMORIES

KINDERGARTEN MEMORIES   Unfortunately, I didn't go to kindergarten so I have no memories of kindergarten.  The year I was ready to enter kindergarten the school district changed the rules and I was too old for kindergarten.  Imagine being five and being too old, but not too mature, for kindergarten.  I often think that had I attended kindergarten I would have been a more disciplined person.

So I have no memories of playing in the little kids' sandbox, no wonderful stories of bonding with my peers over crayons and clay. I was denied … (15 comments)

A buyer recently called and asked about a home on our website.  We discussed the features of the home, the amenities in the subdivision, the schools and the local area.  He seemed quite please that home and area would fulfill his needs.

Preparing for Two Scenarios.....Where are you going Irene? - 08/24/11 04:54 PM

Amy Hahn has written a very timely post about preparing for Hurricane Irene.  She has provided information about compiling an emergency kit and what you should think about when a hurricane is forecast.

As I keep saying, we all have events that occur in our areas including hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, fires, tsunamis. volcanoes and even terrorists' attacks.  We should all be prepared for a natural or unnatural disaster.  It is only prudent.

My client IS pre-approved. .........or NOT - 08/24/11 04:04 PM

Debra Garvin just posted about pre-approval letters and whether they are worth the paper they are written on.  She correctly points out that, unless an application has been submitted and an underwriter has reviewed the application, the pre-approval letter is in her words a "glorified pre-qualification letter."
So when a buyer's agent submits an offer with a pre-approval letter, you better examine the pre-approval letter very carefully and contact the lender to be sure it really is a pre-approval letter.

How To Prepare For A Hurricane - 08/23/11 06:52 PM
Kwee Huset wrote a fabulous blog about being prepared for a hurricane.  This is very important information for people on the Gulf Coast and the East Coast.   As a Californian we are constantly inundated with earthquake preparedness information. The Red Cross tells us that we should have a kit, make a plan and learn CPR and basic first aid.
Well, everyone has some event where they live that requires prior preparation, whether it be hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, fires, tsunamis or volcanoes.  We all need to be prepared by having a kit, making a plan and at the very least learning CPR and basic first aid.

Check your Home after an Earthquake (Phoenixville, PA) - 08/23/11 06:34 PM
David Artigliere wrote a very useful blog about checking your home after an earthquake.  This is very important information since earthquakes are not common in Virginia and other the Eastern cities.  We in California, where earthquakes are more common, are constantly inundated with earthquake preparedness information. The Red Cross tells us that we should have a kit, make a plan and learn CPR and basic first aid.
