Learn To Take No For The Answer - 08/29/12 07:25 PM

At the time I first started in real estate you did cold calling.  So, I would set aside two hours every morning and call from a list a local title company sent me.  It was a wearing job.  No fun.  Most people were kind and pleasant but were not interested in selling their homes.  I must have heard “I plan on dying in my home, I am not selling,”  ten or twenty times every time I cold called people.  I don’t do that anymore.  But it is a good experience to get used to hearing “no” more than you hear … (3 comments)

Stop, Drop and Roll! - 08/15/12 07:36 PM

I don’t get a chance to see all posts, so if there is a good post, I like the fact that people reblog them. Apparently, there have been a lot of posts about politics that go to a “dark place”, Alan May’s words not mine.  He mentions why he doesn’t comment on those posts and what he feels is the effect of commenting on inflammatory posts.I agree with his conclusion.  I don’t comment on political posts no matter what side they discuss.  Not worth alienating a prospective client.

Hooray! Donna Foerster reached the 400,000 point mark - 08/14/12 04:42 PM

Hooray!  Donna Foerster reached the 400,000 point mark Donna Foerster and I have been participating in our own friendly competition for months. We both decided that we would race to see who would reach the next major point mark first. She has been blogging, reblogging, commenting and doing anything else to accumulate points. I think all she has done is legal, but I am not sure. She is a fierce competitor.
She reached her goal of 400,000 points on Monday August 13.  Let’s all congratulate her on the hard work and determination she has shown in reaching her goal.

Dryer Transition Ducts, Lint, and Fires - 08/14/12 10:01 AM

Reuben Saltzman experiments with transition ducts and fire.  He selects the most common types of transition ducts he finds in home.  The ducts made of plastic, foil and semi rigid metal ducts are stuffed with flammable material and then set on fire.  Reuben’s videos shows what happens.  Good information and I find that my plastic transition duct is one of the worst type.  Note to self, I need to change that duct now.
