Arlington County has recently approved the Rosslyn Metrorail Station Access Improvement (RSAI) Project, to help increase access to the Metrorail station. The project includes the construction of a new, modern entrance to the Rosslyn Metro Station, modernized elevators and new station mezzanine. With the project beginning in October 2010, and slated for completion in 2013, we wanted to make you aware of potential disruptions when commuting in/through the Rosslyn area: Access will be maintained to the station elevator and existing Metrorail entrances on North Moore Street and Ft. In south Arlington County lies Fairlington, a neighborhood made up of townhouse apartments. Most of these townhouses were built in the 1940's. It was constructed during World War II and paid for by the Defense Homes Corporation. The name "Fairlington" was created by combining the county names where it is located, Fairfax and Arlington. Fairlington's history goes back as far as 1756 when the area was owned by John Carlyle, a friend of President George Washington. From 1861-1870 the land was under military occupation.
