Opened in 1965, T.C. Williams High School served as the inspiration for the hit movie "Remember the Titans", the portrayal of the integration of African-American and Caucasian students at TCW in 1971 and the tension that arose within this community.
The movie, starring Denzel Washington, shows how the TCW was able to turn their backs on racism and this showed firmly with the success on the Football field.
Students from more than 80 countries with more than 50 languages attend T.C. Williams High School to date.

T.C. Williams High School opened in 1965 and was named after a former of Superintendent of Schools. T.C. Williams High was the inspiration for the movie “Remember The Titans” starring Denzel Washington, which depicts the tensions between African-Americans and Caucasian students when they were integrated at TCW in 1971. With great success on the football field, the community in generally abolished its prejudices on race and bonded together to help overcome such strenuous times.
