Mortgage interest rates remain at the lowest levels of the year. Prior to the expiration of the tax credit in April, the Mortgage Bankers Association forecasted rates on 30-year fixed rate mortgages to rise as high as 5.4% by the end of June. But based on real estate activity and mortgage originations that forecast was eased in May to 5.2% by the end of June. This is good news for those looking to sell, purchase, or refinance their real estate. You can be certain that as our unemployment numbers continue to improve interest rates are going to rise.
