Cayce SC BC High School Holds Dedication Ceremony for New Facilities - 09/29/09 05:14 PM

 I recently attended a Dedication Ceremony at Brookland-Cayce High School. The overcast skies and cool temperatures on the morning of the event were a welcome relief from the 90 degree heat just a day earlier. The quick, sharp cadence from the Brookland-Cayce High School Band's drum line signaled that the ceremony was about to begin.
The location of the event was the brand new outdoor courtyard that lies between the two new facilities: the subjects of the dedication. A fiery red maple leaf gently floats through the air and comes to rest on a neatly groomed lawn. A slight breeze unexpectedly provides a brief moment of relief from the otherwise motionless air. The shafts of sunlight slanting through the sun porch windows seem to have a diffused quality. The sound of a high school marching band can be heard in the distance.
