home staging in vancouver: The Secret Garden - Afternoon Tea in Vancouver, B.C. - 05/28/11 06:25 PM
The Secret Garden - Afternoon Tea in Vancouver, B.C. Who doesn't enjoy the wonderful tradition of Afternoon Tea? We recently had a lovely day visiting the Kerrisdale area for a little shopping, girl talk and tea. My mum was over visiting from Vancouver Island, so my sister and I rounded up our teenage daughters, and we made an outing of it. First stop were the various little boutiques and food shops along 41st, where we found all sorts of unusual items to purchase. Yes, I even picked up a few unusual accessories for my Home Staging business. Of course, shopping works

home staging in vancouver: Home Staging Tip - Space Planning is Important - Home Staging Vancouver - 05/06/11 09:24 PM
Home Staging Tip - Space Planning is Important - Home Staging Vancouver My company, Exit Stage Right, was hired recently to prepare this cute bungalow for sale. This home has a lot of great features, including beautiful, refinished, hardwood floors with inlay, and a wood-burning fireplace. When I first visited the home, it was clear that two young children had invaded the space with all their toys, bouncy chairs, cute baby pictures, sippy cups etc. This is life with young children, and completely understandable. However, when selling the home, the "day care" look had to go! The other

home staging in vancouver: Heritage Home Arts & Crafts Home Staging-Before & After Photos - 05/03/11 12:14 AM
Heritage Home Arts & Crafts Home Staging-Before & After Photos Our Vancouver, B.C. home staging company, Exit Stage Right, was called in to home stage this charming arts & crafts bungalow, built in 1914. The home had beautiful bones, with wonderful, refinished wainscoting, lots of built-ins and nooks and crannies. However, the house just needed a little icing on the cake. With all the woodwork, the home seemed a little dark and stark. We brought in some softness with flowers, lightened up the dark wood by adding light coloured cushions, brought in a bit of spring with a cream and bright

home staging in vancouver: How Important is Entry Presentation When Selling My Home? - 02/09/11 12:59 AM
How Important is Entry Presentation When Selling My Home? Home buyers will often make up their mind whether they like your home for sale or not, within the first few seconds of entering your home. Therefore, a fetching entry or foyer presentation is crucial to engaging buyers and enticing them to see more of your home. You don't want buyers to shut down, but to keep an open mind and even be intrigued to see what the rest of the home has to offer. One way I like to create a beautiful entry, is by hanging a bold, colourful piece of

home staging in vancouver: WHAT IS A HOME STAGING ACCESSORY PACKAGE? - 01/13/11 10:32 AM
WHAT IS A HOME STAGING ACCESSORY PACKAGE? A home stager offers many services, including staging a vacant property, or a furnished property. If the home is vacant or empty, a home stager can organize rental furniture while your home is on the market. Along with furniture, a home stager also rents out accessories. It’s often the accessories that really make a space come alive. One way to rent out accessories is to take the cost of the accessory, then rent it out at 10 – 20% of the original cost. For example, if I purchase a vase for $20,

home staging in vancouver: WHAT IS THE HOME STAGING PROCESS? - 01/12/11 01:34 PM
WHAT IS THE HOME STAGING PROCESS? Home staging is a bit of a mystery. Most people are well acquainted with the “before & after” shots on a home stager’s portfolio, but what is a home stager’s process? Let’s use an empty or vacant property as an example. We check out the lay of the land… I visit your home before you place your home on the market, take a walk-through of your home (this takes about 20 minutes), take some photos of each and every room, and chat with you about when you are looking to have your home staged.

home staging in vancouver: Home Staging is My Workout! - 09/08/10 01:29 AM
Home Staging is My Workout I once saw a T-shirt in a photo from an article about Home Staging. The T-shirt had "Home Staging is My Workout" written on it. At the time, I wasn't quite a home stager yet, but could imagine that home staging must be quite a physical job. Boy, was I right! The other day, I helped out another home stager with her job. Lois, of Lois Interiors, invited me to help her stage a turn-of-the-century mansion, 6,000 square feet, in one of the most affluent areas of Vancouver, Point Grey. To say this was a

home staging in vancouver: Clap On... Clap Off!!! - 09/05/10 01:49 PM
Clap On... Clap Off!!! Who doesn't remember that infamous commercial - clap your hands, and the lamp will magically turn on! Well, I found a really neat lamp the other day. I promise, it's not a "clap on, clap off" lamp, but it does seem magical. When the lamp is off, it looks like just any other normal, generic lamp. However, when you turn the lamp on, magically, the image of flowers radiates through the light of the lamp shade. I was dying to use these lamps for staging, and had the chance the other day. I used black and white

home staging in vancouver: Home Staging - It's Not About the Furniture - Part I - 08/28/10 09:58 AM
Home Staging - It's Not About the Furniture - Part I Of course, an important part of home staging is supplying or re-arranging furniture. To be honest, anyone can fill a room full of furniture. There is a talent to how furniture is placed, taking into consideration traffic flow, the proportions of the human body in a space etc. However, the real art of home staging lies in the small touches that speak to prospective buyers. Is a bathroom outfitted with clean towels and a new shower curtain enough? Ho-hum, thinks the potential buyer on seeing this. What is a buyer

home staging in vancouver: Home Staging in Vancouver, B.C. Works - Condo Sold in One Day for Full Asking Price! - 04/03/10 10:22 AM
Home Staging in Vancouver, B.C. Works - Condo Sold in One Day for Full Asking Price! Exit Stage Right home stagers were called in to ready this condo for sale. It's location is fabulous, in the Westside of Vancouver, close to downtown, yet surrounded by cafes, the beach, and plenty of parks. This particular home had a few challenges. First, there was quite a bit of visual clutter. Secondly, there was a huge, cream coloured leather sofa. I call these the "marshmallow" sofa. They ooze out and take up way too much space. The homeowners didn't want the expense of storing
