springfield about: Buying a Home In Springfield? - Call an Accredited Buyer Representative - 09/27/09 04:07 AM
The law in Virginia determines "agency". When I list a home for sale I am a seller's agent When I sell a home to clients I am a buyer's agent Any real estate agent in Virginia can be either a Buyer's agent or a Seller's agent - it has nothing to do with the type of license they have. When buying a home I recommend you work with a real estate agent who has earned the right to display the REBAC logo and be known as an Accredited Buyer Representative. My wife, Karen, is the member

springfield about: Please Don't Bring Home Any "Treasure" - 06/20/09 10:13 AM
The West Springfield Rotary Club supports many local, national and international projects that are not instantly obvious to the public. One exception is its' participation in VDOT's Adopt-A-Highway program. Every two months club members get out early on a Saturday morning and pick up trash along their assigned stretch of road - Rolling Road between Old Keene Mill Road and the Fairfax County Parkway. Since this is a very heavily traveled road they usually come back with an abundance of "treasure" in addition to the usual collection of bottles, cans, fast food containers and the like. I am extremely thankful

springfield about: Fischer's Hardware Is The Real Deal In Springfield VA - 04/08/09 06:49 PM
My first association with Fischer's was in the early '80s. Our family enjoyed camping and we were constantly on the lookout for items that would make our stay in the woods a bit more enjoyable. Fischer's was the only place we could find Strike Anywhere Matches. Since then we have looked to them for antiquing finishes - they have an exceptionally fine inventory of refinishing supplies. Whichever the season Fischer's has whatever you will need to do the job properly - their staff is among the most knowledgeable you will find anywhere Opened in 1953, Fischer's is a local

springfield about: Now You Can Catch Trout And Cook It In Springfield, VA - 02/21/09 09:37 AM
Each year the Fairfax County Park Authority stocks two parks with trout - Lake Fairfax Park and Lake Accotink Park in Springfield. A 55 acre lake is an important and well used feature of the 493 acre park at Lake Accotink. The first 1,000 pounds of trout were placed in the stream (it will be restocked weekly) for the February 6 season opening which will continue through April 19,2009. For full details see Lake Accotink Trout Fishing. Of course, we fishermen know that after the thrill of catching trout has passed the sooner you get trout to "the cooking site"

springfield about: Oh, Go Take A Hike In Springfield, Virginia - 02/03/09 05:57 PM
Walking and hiking are both popular and effective forms of cardio exercise. It's more enjoyable if you can do the exercise in pleasant, outdoor surroundings. If you live in Springfield, Virginia there are two venues where those conditions come together Burke Lake Park has a 4.7 mile hiking trail around a 218 acre lake. The American Hiking Society rates the trail among the top 10 in the US Lake Accotink Park has a 3.75 mile trail in the 493 acre park that also has a 55 acre lake. Prior to the completion of the Fairfax County Parkway it was a challenge to attempt a commute from Springfield to the Herndon/Reston area. Today, if you are offered a position in either of those 2 locations it makes a lot of sense to purchase a home in the Springfield area. As you can see by the map below it is a very direct route. There are Springfield subdivisions on either side of the Fairfax County Parkway. For example, if you live in SARATOGA or DAVENTRY you can be on the Fairfax County Parkway in less than10 minutes The Kruschka Team has 33

springfield about: Springfield, VA Is "Commuting Central" For Northern Virginia - 12/11/08 07:59 PM
There are three primary concerns for people who relocate to the National Capital Area and decide to locate in Northern Virginia. The first concern is the availability and cost of housing. For those with children school quality is the second area of interest. It should also be an area of interest for people without children since school quality has an impact on resale value. Commuting is the third area that is considered by a relocatee Springfield is Commuting Central for many North Virginia residents especially if you live east of Burke in Fairfax County and south of the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County

springfield about: Springfield Virginia Slugs - 09/27/08 08:27 PM
The slugging system is very simple. If a car needs additional passengers to meet the Virginia (HOV) regulations the driver pulls up to one of the known slug lines. Usually the driver positions the car so that the slugs are on the passenger side. The driver either displays a sign with the destination or simply lowers the passenger window, to call out the destination, such as "Pentagon" "L'Enfant Plaza," or "14th & New York." The first slug in line for that particular destination gets into the car, normally confirming the destination, and off they go. It is free because of the mutual
