Halloween in Louisville and Oldham County - 10/31/08 06:42 AM

It is a big day for ghosts, princesses, Darth Vader and pirates everywhere. How wonderful Halloween is on a Friday night this year. All the candy filled characters don't have to get up early and go to school. They can sleep off their sugar stupor til late in the morning on Saturday and wake up and do it all over again. We look forward to trick or treating around here. Lots of kids in the Neighborhood plus hayrides and bon fires are easy to find. I have not seen anything official from the Office of Trick or Treating and All … (0 comments)

Well, while reviewing the new listings today there were 2 that caught my eye. Neither of these are my listings, but of course, if you want more info I can track it down or get you in the property.
There was a house in a good location and decent price for a First Time Home Buyer House in the $130's. It was off chamberlain lane near the Summit and Old Brownsboro Crossing. Nice location and price for Northeast Jefferson County.
There was also a new foreclosure listing in the Buckner area. 2000 sqf with a basement, in the $220's.

First Time Home Buyers 3 Keys to a Successful Search - 10/24/08 06:14 PM
Rates and the financial market have been up and down and back up and back down again over the last month. Many current homeowners that have been thinking about moving, selling their house or buying a new house have gone to the sidelines waiting to see what will happen. But I have been getting a lot of calls from First Time Home Buyers that have the money, credit and desire to become homeowners. Rates are still good and with a potential $7500 tax credit for first time buyers, I don't blame them. There are many good deals out there and motivated … (0 comments)

Kings Island, LaRosa's Pizza - 10/21/08 05:46 AM
It is fall break in Oldham County, the kids are out of school. We had the opportunity to head up to the Cincinnati area and take our kids to Kings Island. I grew up going to Kings Island and this was the first trip for our kids to Kings Island. I probably have not been in 12 years or so. Many things had changed, but many were the same. The fountain at the entrance had the same 1970's look like we saw when Kings Island was on the Brady Bunch episode where they lost Mike Brady's architectual drawings and ran around … (0 comments)

Questions from a First Time Homebuyer, How much money will I need? - 10/17/08 07:35 AM
How much money does it take to buy a house?

This is a question I get a lot from first time home buyers in the Louisville, KY area. This might seem like a silly answer, but you will need all of it and then some. You need to come up with the entire purchase price plus, good faith money, closing costs, prepaid expenses and cost of inspections.

Here is the Breakdown. Of course you will not have to save up every penny of the purchase price, but not a bad idea. The majority of the the purchase … (0 comments)

Anything good happening in Louisville Real Estate? - 10/14/08 06:46 AM
Just wanted to hop in front of you for a second. I know the economy is up and down and all over the place right now. I am not going to lie and say we have buyers beating down the doors to get in to new houses, but there are still folks out there looking. I think the uncertainty in the economy has many people putting major purchase plans on hold for a bit, until there is a better sense of where things are headed. I wanted to point out a few areas of opportunity if you know of someone who … (0 comments)

Need to bring a canned good for Dare to Care. Mayor Jerry invited everyone down to the river on Oct 24 for a farwell trip on the Delta Queen. It is losing Federal Grants and is being shipped out.
Got an email with some better info about the Delta Queen and what is going on, worth taking a look at:

Shopping in Middletown - 10/12/08 06:12 AM
Need a few more places to shop in East Louisville? Looks like the rest of the old Biggs store on Shelbyville Rd in Middletown has been torn down. It made way for a New Target in the Middletown Station Shopping Center next to the newer Walmart on the same old Biggs property.

Also, a developer is trying to get a new upscale grocery approved for the corner of Shlebyville Rd and Beckley Station. A store like Whole Foods, not Walmart. I am sure the PGA and Valhalla don't want the drive to their entrance lined with fast foods and Walmarts. … (0 comments)

New Construction Deals in Louisville KY - 10/07/08 08:49 AM
We are moving swiftly in to October and the end of the year is coming fast. For those in business the fourth quarter has started and with such wonderful news in the financial and credit markets and the stock market daily swings several hundred points one way or the other have builders with lots of inventory dropping prices to get things off their books by the end of the year and create some cash flow or at the very least, stop heaving cash on interest every month.

I saw Monsour Builders drop their prices on some of their new … (0 comments)

Oldham County, Not quite a neighborhood pool, but close - 10/03/08 09:16 AM
These neighborhoods DO NOT have a community pool, but they are very close to the Oldham County Country Club and many of the members live in these neighborhoods and have kind of adopted it as a Community Pool.

Oldham County Country Club was built in 1958 and is located in LaGrange (Buckner), Kentucky. As a semi-private facility, our golf course is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC seven days a week! It is a beautifully kept 18 hole golf course and if you join, you have access to a great pool and tennis courts. One of the best kept secrects in Oldham … (0 comments)

Louisville KY Neighborhoods with Pools, Tennis and Golf - 10/01/08 07:08 AM
We have a pool about a minutes drive from our house. In the summer our kids burn it up and are pool bums until Labor Day. It is a great place to end a hot summer day hanging out with the kids and talking to neighbors who, without the pool, we would rarely if ever talk to or get to know. The pool has been a great tool for us to get to know other families better and also just have a great time.

I work with families moving to the Louisville area and many times they are looking for … (0 comments)
