The 2009 Kentucky General Assembly is trying their part to get the the new construction industry moving in Kentucky. They recently passed legislation that will provide purchasers of new construction over the next year a $5000 tax credit against their state tax liability. If you qualify for the federal $8000 first time homebuyer's tax credit, you are not able to take advantage of this credit as well. In addition, it is not refundable like the federal tax credit.
