It completely amazes me when people procrastinate buying life Insurance. Uninsured/Under insured motorist coverage (also known as UM/UIM ) is one of the most mis-understood coverages out there today. I think everyone knows that it covers you when you are hit by someone that does not have insurance. But what if they do have insurance, just not enough to cover your injuries. I can only speak to the state of California as this is where I am licensed.
