sa homes: 2009, a focus on you and your business - 01/04/09 11:13 PM
A fresh start, a new year; Now is the time to refocus on your profession.  You are your business and you need to treat it like that.  The past is the past, but it should not be forgotten, it should be part of your learning curve and your stepping stone to reevaluate what works and what doesn't.  One can never be comfortable with achieving satisfaction, one must concentrate on being the best you can be, and knowing you put all you can in your business.  Can you look at the person in the mirror and say you achieved this, but you … (10 comments)

sa homes: San Antonio real estate, still growing strong - 12/12/08 11:08 PM
San Antonio's market is still the prime area to move and work.  There's still a good supply of homes in the inventory but from the looks of things, houses are still moving.  Builders are dropping prices on inventory homes just to get them off the books.  Interest rates are at their lowest in years!  A new home for the holidays or a new years treat!  All the marks are lined up in the right place.
One of the best news about a buyer's market is you don't have to buy a foreclosed home to get a really good deal.  This is … (6 comments)

sa homes: The most important part of your business plan as a Realtor - 11/22/08 09:11 PM
Real estate is more than sending some listings, presenting listing presentations, and driving to and from homes of interest.  Perhaps we as Realtors, need to explain this better.  We are professionals, we are our profession.  There's a valuable part of our business that we, and our clients, tend to overlook and we need to stop it now.  That most valuable part is Time!  In a "sales" business, we need to ensure we are one step ahead of time management and time wasters.  The time you waste today doesn't come back in the long run.  Your childs soccer game or musical recittal should … (4 comments)

sa homes: With the bailout finally approved, what's next? - 10/02/08 12:47 AM
Now that congress has finally passed the bill, with some extras thrown in, how will it affect the economy and the housing market?  I'm interested in your thoughts.  With the Texas market not totally feeling the effects of the rest of the world, will this put a rise in home buying?

sa homes: The best thank you you can give me is a referral - 08/28/08 10:52 PM
You hired me.  I hope I met all your needs and more.  My professionalism and love for the industry speaks volumes.....   We've laughed, we've worked, we've dined and counter offered.  Now, we've closed and found you the home of your dreams.
You've expressed your gratitude and thanks, I reciprocated and really value our relationship.  So I know you need the time to move in, get organized and get the furniture in order.  I just ask for one thing; can I have you're referrals?
If I've done you the job, offered you advice, or even if you know me from a former … (16 comments)

sa homes: Do you dress to look like a business person? Or are jeans your thing? - 08/27/08 11:14 PM
Getting in the real estate business, I decided I should dress the part.  I love looking professional, and having my clients working with someone dressed the part.  Do you make an effort to wear clothes that reflect you as a professional?  If not, you should   I even offer this advice to the "well established" brokers and agents.  You look like a professional, people treat you as such.  Doesn't take a whole lot of time to make the effort, so, make the effort.  I like looking like a professional, and being the part.  It's all part of the package.

sa homes: Do your homework... forward planning - 08/24/08 12:48 AM
You are looking to make that step; buying a home.  Great!  It's still one of the best investments you can do!  Now, I have to give you a bit of advice; as a real estate professional, I can't tell what neighborhood is "crime good" or not for you.  Your agent has a code of ethics that we follow, being a real estate professional and a veteran that proudly served for over 20 years, ethics is a core value that I honor and follow without questions.
As a homebuyer, looking and hearing about the new state of affairs and industry advantages, research … (4 comments)

sa homes: Time is running out on downpayment assistance.... the time to buy is now!! - 08/21/08 12:16 AM
Congress is passing a bill to do away with down payment assistance.  Why, I have no clue, it' one of the best programs around.  What can you do about it?  Two things, first now is the time to buy that great home you were leaning towards, and second, send a letter to congress letting them know this is a bad deal!
At this time in society and economics, now more than ever, there needs to be a program in place to help the "average Joe, buy a home for their family.  Why take that away?  I'm certified in the Nehemiah program … (4 comments)

sa homes: First time home buyer, please don't fret - 08/13/08 02:07 AM
Now I know as a first time home buyer the economy has you in a state of turmoil, but guess what?  Is still a great time to buy a home.  The real estate market isn't tied into the stock market and homes aren't really feeling the effect.  what the media is showing you is the extreme markets, that, by the way, isn't the standard in the USA.  It really is a time to buy.  If your credit isn't the best, don't fret, get yourself in touch with a Realtor who, in turn, will get you in touch with a loan officer, … (11 comments)

sa homes: Why I am a Realtor - 07/30/08 10:33 PM
I love the real estate industry; it has been a part of my life for over 80% of my life!  My parents instilled the value of real estate to me growing up; owning several homes for property management and the one's we lived in.  Now don't get me wrong, managing your own property isn't a cake walk, but it's rewarding both professionally and personally.  From day one, my parents have always expressed the importance of hiring a professional real estate agent to ensure you get the best representation.  I have followed that for over 30 years.
  I bought my first … (9 comments)

sa homes: Oh, I love this house, but ..... - 07/21/08 10:12 PM
House hunting can be a fun and stressful event.  You have a list of homes you've sat down with your Realtor with.  Of course you have narrowed down your criteria, that's great!  Now, here's the dilemma..... What if your Realtor shows you the house you want?
Do you keep looking for the next 3 days, and feel sick when your "dream home" becomes someone else "dream home" that they took the time to put an offer on?  No, if your Realtor has done the job you want him to do, that "dream home" is found, STOP!!!!   Take the time; let him … (8 comments)
