Feature This...Staging Tip #999.75- Staggering When Staging - 12/16/10 05:14 AM
There is a time and a place for everything, and in my line of work I see a lot of people staggering around the room when they ought to be on the level.
I'm talking about hanging artwork, by the way.
You can tell the amateur designer from the pro very easily by simply noticing how they hang artwork. There are rules that, especially when staging, one should not take liberties with. Stagers endeavor to exhalt the architecture, not to fight with it or detract.

My Mother the Real Estate Stager - 12/16/10 03:07 AM
Her name is Carol. She doesn't blog, she doesn't even have an email address. Her eyes glaze over when I talk about SEO, Constant Contact, and Statcounter hits.

"What are you doing?"
Working, Mom.
"On what?"
A Conceptual Staging Image for a Agent, the newsletter, and uploading content to our website.
"Okay, well, you better get your butt over here to Miss Sherry's and start varnishing the top of this coffee table and help me hang this chandelier."

Ok, so,  I highly recommend working with your … (13 comments)

PLEASE DON'T PUT IT ON YOUR WALLS!
I know builder beige is boring. Go yellow-er, gray-er, or greener. But whatever you do  - DON'T GO PINKER!
It's gonna look bad. Real bad. Very very bad. Nothing is going to tone it down once it's up, and nobody really wants to move into a pink living room or a house painted entirely with this color.

These colors are fine for accent … (21 comments)

Via Karen Otto, Home Stager, Plano, TX 469)964-0516 www.homestarstaging.com (Home Star Staging):
One of the sticking points I've always had about whether I should take courses of any kind (college level, continuing education, enrichment, career building etc.) are the fees associated with them and if they would truly be worth my investment of time and money and give me a return on that investment?  Unless you know someone who has taken the course and can tell you about it, it's … (0 comments)
