11/6 in Waycross GA the National BBQ Festival held there 9th annual Smokin in the Swamp BBQ Competition...time restrictions did not allow my husband to enter the BBQ portion of the festival so they decided to enter the Apple Pie Competition because they only had to make a pie and drop it off and wait for the results...

National BBQ Festival - 2010 Smokin' IX...in the Swamp, Waycross GA - 11/09/10 09:06 AM
I need to begin by saying I AM NOT A BAKER!!! 
My husband and our youngest son went to a BBQ festival this weekend and had me bake one of my apple pies so they could enter it in the apple pie category at the BBQ festival...I got 4th place out of 200 apple pie entries!!!!!   And guess what the whopping prize is for first place?  $100 - yes, you read that right...one hundred dollars!!!!!!!  Yet the BBQ categories can get up to like $10,000!!!  Now how's that fair?  tee hee!!!
