wordpress: WordPress Microsites vs WordPress Multisites - 04/12/11 09:42 AM
WordPress Microsites - The Ultimate in SEO for Multiple Domains! Microsites are a highly effective SEO tool to increase online traffic to your business by utilizing websites with keyword rich domain names. The microsites developed on these keyword rich domains use advanced SEO techniques and are able to capture consumers that your main site is missing. Are you capturing ALL the online business you can? The reason for creating microsites is to achieve page one rank, on "multiple search terms" utilizing "keyword rich domains" specific to each search term. Search engines place enormous "weight" on domains that "contain" the keywords people are

wordpress: SEO Smart Links Plugin for WordPress Not Playing Well With Other Plugins - 03/29/11 09:44 AM
For those of you who have this plugin, along with an IDX plugin, 100% of the time when I've had problems with the plugin for IDX Broker or Diverse Solutions, SEO Smart Links is the culprit. Deactivate that and you'll be good to go!! I've also found SEO Smart Links not so friendly when I'm working with "anchors" on pages...for those really long pages or newsletter where the viewer can click on an item, and it takes the viewer down the page automatically to that spot, then gives the option to go back to the "top" - that's what anchors do. I've actually

wordpress: Removing Page Titles in Genesis Child Themes - 03/13/11 09:02 PM
For those of you who are using your WordPress as a website and are using a static page as the home page, there is a way to remove the title that shows up through manipulating your theme's functions.php file. Open Notepad and bring in the functions.php file from your WordPress theme. In the functions.php file, simply place this snippet of code at the very bottom and replace the file in your host. //REMOVE PAGE TITLE remove_action('genesis_post_title', 'genesis_do_post_title'); But, what if you want to just remove it from a specific page? Simply add this conditional instead. //REMOVE PAGE TITLE add_action('get_header', 'child_remove_page_titles'); function child_remove_page_titles() {

wordpress: My Clients Are Always Makin' Me Think! Some WordPress Basics... - 01/10/11 08:09 AM
...and I love it!!! I had a question this morning about uploading a .pdf to one's "WordPress" and additionally, my client added that she wanted to put heading tags on some of her post content, and why wasn't that option available in WordPress? It is actually...it's under "format" in WordPress content editor. But it got me thinking. And something as simple as "tables," and "iFrames" that we've grown accustomed to in "website platforms" is just not there in WordPress. A great example of the "difference" between the "open source" platform like WordPress and a "website" platform, I'll use Point2 Agent for comparisons

wordpress: Kudos to All Who "DIG IN" to Their Websites and Blogs!!! - 10/06/10 09:09 PM
I've been spending the last few weeks with some really great "digger-inners" - I know that's not a word, but...nothing makes me more excited than to see a client dig into their website and/or blog when I'm done customizing it. Heck, I even had a client teach me something this week as we were playing around with a review blog site and I had never worked with custom review plugin software before and neither had he - and it's so fun to really be a team instead of customizing something based on instruction and when I'm done, the site just sites stagnate.
